I am passionate about supporting local businesses, so it pains me to post this review. However, I shared this issue with them privately via their FB page and did not receive any response (beyond the auto-reply that comes as soon as you send a message). My original message to them, on March 5, 2024 read: "Hello - I'm reaching out to share our recent experience eating at Virlie's. We live in Pittsboro and frequent Virlie's a few times per month. We stopped in to grab dinner on 3/4/2024, arriving a couple minutes after 7pm. One of the employees - I believe her name is Morgan - was quick to greet us and take our drink orders. Then, we waited more than 20 minutes for anyone else to acknowledge us or offer to take our orders. Multiple employees were nearby during that time, spending time chatting with other customers, gathering to present a piece of cake and a birthday song to a nearby table. We had decided to leave and head somewhere else in town. An employee approached us as we were getting up and asked for our order - no acknowledgement of the long wait, no apology for the fact that we were ignored all that time. We had burgers, which were good; however, our fries had obviously been out of the fryer for a bit and were droopy and not hot. We also did not have beverages for most of our meal, and no one ever returned to our table to check on us. We love supporting local businesses. and we focus on highlighting the positive publicly. [We seek to let] small businesses know privately when things could be improved. Hopefully this message will help ensure that all customers have a positive experience when they...
Read moreSo funny story, my wife and I made a trip over to Raleigh and on the way back we take a wrong turn and end up taking a less direct way home. We were hungry so we google what restaurants are near us, so Virlie's grill in Pittsboro shows up with a 4.8 rating - so we decided to try it. Great small town grill and bar - it was Friday steak night (they cook their steaks outside on a grill), I think the 10 oz filet was $29.95 and the rib eye was $25.95 - we made a note to make the drive and try steak night sometime. Tonight we opted for the chick fried steam with milk gravy - it was good, not the best I have had (try Carolina Diner in Greensboro), but it hit the spot. I paired mine with loaded baked potato (and man was it loaded w/ real bacon and cheese) and onion rings. My wife chose the mashed potatoes and southern style green beans - the mashed potatoes weren't homemade, but were still good. The beans were made with fatback. The staff was amazing - extremely friendly and very attentive! We got there around 6 pm on a Friday and it was already crowded, so get...
Read moreI've heard so much about this place from locals and folks nearby saying this place is a must for breakfast, so of course, I had to partake im this local tradition.
We arrived this month (a Sunday) around 11am for brunch. The place was crowded, but no wait, so we sat ourselves. The decor is a little strange, but I can handle that if the food and service shines, and man, does it shine!
We ordered from a large menu of brunch faves. I ordered the garden omelet with grits and a homemade biscuit. When it arrived, it looked fabulous! I was happy to taste that it not only looked yummy, but the flavors coming from my plate were just as pleasing!
Our server was attentive, and so were others, keeping our refills steady on coffee. They truly seemed to care genuinely about how we felt about the meal and our experience.
I'm looking forward to trying this place again for lunch, or maybe dinner.
Note-they are only open for brunch on Sunday and close at...
