Me, my partner, and others in our family have been to Jim’s several times and it’s always been great except for the past couple of times. From our experience the meat is always cooked more on the rarer side so if you want medium, chances were your steaks would be closer to medium rare. Just about every time we have ordered in the past (usually the steak tips), we ordered them medium and they were basically still mooing on our plates and had to send them back to be cooked more. This more recent time, we erred on the side of caution and ordered our steaks medium-well.
We not only had to wait nearly an hour for our meal, but our glasses (water) were empty for huge chunks of time before we saw our waitress, there were only a handful of small parties in the restaurant during the time we were there. The two tables next to us, that we had ordered ahead of, received their food first. When we saw our waitress she apologized for our wait and claimed that the delay must have been because we ordered our steaks medium-well.
When we finally got our food, the filet and ribeye were cold, bone dry, flavorless, and completely over cooked. I had ordered mushrooms and onions to go with my filet and they looked and tasted as if they had been boiled in oil and slopped on the plate. I wouldn’t have fed those steaks to my dog, much less eaten them ourselves.
We had waited so long we were not going to wait another hour for them to cook our steaks the right way. When we got up to leave and went to the front to pay for our $70+ garbage meal, we told the hostess at the register how horrible our service was and she claimed it was an off night for everyone.
I totally understand the struggle of getting enough waitstaff to cover tables after having a couple of call-ins or no-shows but for gosh sakes. We anticipated the servers to be off their game if they were understaffed but it’s a STEAKhouse. The chef should know how to cook a steak even if the waitstaff were nonexistent. We paid way too much money for the fast food quality meat we received. After this hugely disappointing meal and the last one we had, we will not be revisiting Jim’s Steakhouse. If I want that quality of meal, McDonald’s is about $65 cheaper...
Read moreThe restaurant is old and outdated with cheap dining furniture. The food is poor quality and overpriced. We were served sliced, loaf bread from a grocery store. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer. It was about the best part of the meal. The salad is a bowl of iceberg lettuce you get from a grocery store with a slice of a cooked beet on top and nothing else. I asked for French dressing and received cocktail sauce for my salad. I ordered the steak medium and recieved a medium rare and had to send it back. The steak had a good taste but the meal wasn’t worth the price. The mushrooms on the steak were from a can. The service is mediocre. When I looked at the check I notice they charged me for two pops and an alcoholic drink. When I asked why this charge was on the ticket the waitress said we had drinks at the bar. I said no we did not and she proceeded to argue with us before finally removing the charge from the bill. Upon closer inspection of the bill we discovered they charged us $2 for onions and $2 for mushrooms for the steak. $1 for sour cream and .50 for cheese on the baked potatoes. There were three of us and we ordered 3 waters, 2 ribeyes, three salads, three baked potatoes, and an order of onion rings and the bill was $71. This restaurant is not...
Read moreThis was my first time eating here. My husband ate here years ago and my step daughter is a frequent flyer. We waited over an hour and 15 mins to be seated. Then waited another 10 mins for our server to take our drink orders. After our drinks came we waited so long for our server to come back to take our order we thought he forgot about us. My husband ordered the 32 Oz filet which tasted like hamburger meat, my step daughter and I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was like eating rubber. Only good thing we ate was the onion rings. This meal was not worth the money we spent at all. My family Are not complainers but because are experience was so bad, we decided to let the manager know. Our server never even asked how everything was and if there was anything else he could do. I explained the situation to the manager and she asked me why we were carrying to go boxes. My response to her was well we paid for it might as well take it home and give it to my dogs. The manager stated back that my dogs would be getting a wonderful meal. She then proceeded to have us stand aside while she went to speak with the GM or the owner who never came out to speak to us personally. Will never go back. We will stick to Gobblers Roost from now on. Now that’s a restaurant...
