The first time me and my husband went there was about 6 years ago and the decor was bad and the food was awful. We ordered lasagna which was served with a spoon because it was so watery and tasted bad. They did renovations so I thoght I'd give them another try, so I went back in December 2024. I wanted to try their wood fire pizza. So I ordered it to go it was barely larger than a personal size pizza and cost almost $30, which I may have been okay paying if it was good, but it was not. The crust was undercooked and doughy.
I agree with some of the reviews about the staff, they could definitely use some customer service training. I waited 10 min before anyone acknowledged me and I was right in front of the bartender. He could have said "someone will be right with you" which would have gone a long way. It's poor customer service when someone who comes in after you gets acknowledged first and has to tell the service person that you were there first. I try to give people the benefit of doubt and not immediately go to racism but I seem to be the only African American person there and everyone else seemed to be getting serviced before me. I will never go back. Which is sad because I want to support local businesses. I've lived here for...
Read moreI grew up in Pittsburg and downtown has definitely changed! I'm so in love with the new area and really enjoyed my time at La Veranda with my family.
When I was visiting this last weekend we decided to give this place a try and we were very satisfied. We visited on a busy Friday evening and from the bar to the tables, there was barely any available seating. As busy as it was it seemed there were only 2 waitresses hustling, but they were still very attentive and checked on us regularly.
Our table ordered Linguine alla Vongole, Penne Tri-Funghi and Chicken Parmigiana (not on the menu but they still made it - nice surprise!). Although I didn't get to try the linguine, my mother loved it and my sister was raving about the chicken. As I've shared in previous reviews, they are hard women to please - so great job La Veranda! My husband and I shared the Penne Tri-Funghi and both loved it. We added chicken so it wasn't completely vegetarian but I really enjoyed the savory mushroom sauce! It'll be hard for me not to order this again when I come back to visit.
Overall we were very satisfied and I will definitely want...
Read moreI was very disappointed with the food. After reading all the positive reviews. I decided to take my family to this place for a nice new years eve dinner, but... NEVER AGAIN! !, even though our waitress was nice (reason for my one star) our overall experience was TERRIBLE. I ordered "the house special" steak and lobster, a $35.00 dollar plate, and let me tell you it was Nasty!! my lobster was overcooked and mushy , it had no flavor at all. I just couldn't eat it. My garlic mashed potatoes was runny, my steak was dry and had no flavor. Also my husband ordered the New York Steak ( a $20 something plate), it got him feeling sick. The steak was covered in this nasty brown mushrooms sauce, also his mashed potatoe was watery and disgusting. My girls ordered the lasagna, they couldn't eat it because they said it tasted like bagle bites, (and they like bagle bites, but NOT a lasagna to taste like cheap bagel bites). I am so very disappointed, we spend so much money and was very disgusted with the food. We are never coming back to this place. I certainly DON'T...
