Bella Monte Pizza — Restaurant in Pittsburgh

I ordered pizza on the evening of 8/6. I live less then 5 minutes from this location but my pizza seemed to be sitting around for over an hour. It wasn't hot, it was hard and chewy and I didn't even finish eating it. I ALWAYS finish my food but it just wasn't good. I called to let them know but the man on the phone was foreign and we weren't communicating well. He was hard to understand and I don't know if he knew what I was saying. I asked him for a store credit and didn't know if I got it so I called back the next day, 8/7. I asked the man on the phone if I had a store credit because I wasn't sure the the guy from last night understood. He said there was no store credit and said he'd give me my money back. I said he could just give me a store credit but he said "why would you want to order here again if you didn't like it". I said that I've ordered from here before and liked it. He said he'd just give me my money back and I shouldn't order from them anymore. I said that's fine and hung up. A few minutes later they called back and said they aren't giving me my money back because I didn't return the pizza the night that I ordered it. I said that I did call and the guy didn't say anything about returning the pizza. He asked if I could return it today. I told him I threw it away because it was that bad. He said I can't get my money back or a store credit since I can't return the pizza. I said that's ridiculous and if that was the case I should've been told that the night of the incident but the guy they had working couldn't communicate in English. He told me I was trying to scam them and wouldn't let me talk. He just kept interrupting me and talking over me. Completely rude and had no customer service skills. If you're going to have someone answering phones they really should be competent in English and know how to speak to people. This is one of the strangest and most rude interactions I've ever had with a business. Very average food. The pizza is good, but nothing special. Don't bother with the salad...it's pretty basic. It's a nice little neighborhood place, and mostly we ate their out of conveinence when we lived nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. The food is a little overpriced for the quality. They do have a nice lunch deal with a slice of pizza and drink for a cheap price. They also have a fairly wide menu selection of your typical Italian delivery place food, which is nice they have a fair number of options. My opinion of this place recently has dropped quite a bit, though given I frequently used to walk by here and rarely did employees wear masks and those who did usually wore them wrong below their nose. Twice, I went in to order and in one instance, the worker cooking my food and taking my order did not have a mask on, and the other time I came in the worker wore it wrong. This place serves surprisingly delicious food that far surpassed my expectations. And, the prices are awesome as well! Decent location and the food is made quickly. I ordered the cheese calzone (build your own, but I just didn't add anything).

It really it the spot. Especially after my last disappoint calzone experience. The size for the calzone was quite large in general, but it was a crazy good deal for just $10! Stuffed with a ton of cheese, more mozzarella than ricotta.

The sauce they served inside of the calzone was mildly sweet, but very well balanced. I enjoyed it. They also gave me two little containers of tomato sauce on the side (which was fine, although cold). The crust was great. Nice and buttery. Not too greasy or bready.
