Actually 1 star, scoring this 5 just to get my review seen.
This place has been a Hit but it’s usually Miss. And I am sharing these concerns to help them improve their product. This place is for you if you happen to like the following:
Having the cheese completely come off the top of the pizza following a short walk after you pick it up. Clear puddles of grease on top of the pizza A slice of pizza that even when folded, droops down as if it was taken out of the oven 15 to 20 minutes early. (Note: A pizza made right should support itself from gripping the crust alone). Far too often, you grab a slice by the crust end and you can observe the pizza grow in length as if you are grabbing dough that has not yet been cooked because that is actually what is has happening. No official website or menu to peruse online. It’s 2021, this detail alone is worrisome. I let it slide in the past but our pizza was so bad the other day that now the lack of website seems very ominous. Cash only.
Now I know this place is new or is being revamped after an earlier attempt at getting started. The issues in this post can be resolved quickly but management needs to do some serious self reflection and quality control on their product, especially as the busy summer season rolls around. I’ve politely relayed the soggy dough issue with them and their lack of curiosity tells me that this place may only be in business for another year or so as the public consensus spreads and solidifies. We had our warning as well but gave it a shot…
On that very night we ordered from them the first time, as I walked with the pizza in my hand, an old man on his porch noticed the box I had and delivered a stark warning to me…
‘Be careful young man!’ He began with a crackling voice as he sat in his rocking chair. ‘That pizza is trouble! Ya hear me boy?! Trouble I tell ya!!’
At this point I had placed my alternate hand on my pepper spray should the old man have attempted in engage me in an effort to claim street cred or as an act of dominance but luckily he remained seated so I replied accordingly.
‘I’ve heard mixed things. They were nice to me when I picked it up and a large pizza at Aiello’s cost 50 dollars, I can’t afford that!’
‘Then go to Mineo’s young man! Or go to GE and make one yourself, it ain’t that hard! That pizza you have right there ain’t bringing nothing but trouble into the neighborhood! This is Greenfield! Kids are going to see what you’re doing and emulate you when they get of pizza buying age!’
Frustrated with the old man, I lost my patience. ‘Thank you sir, but why don’t you frick off?’
‘Actually why don’t you frick off! I’m old, you show me respect!’
‘No thank you I will not frick off, I think you should frick off and go get fricked. My pizza is my business and I will not stand for anyone telling me what I should do with it. And if you don’t like what I am saying, then I will be more than happy to square up with you and throw down,’ I said to him sternly. Meanwhile a group of Asian people were walking by when I delivered my ultimatum so I relayed what was happening to them in fluent Mandarin. ‘Wo Gaosu Laoren Yao Zhuyi Ta de zui’.
I went with Mandarin over Wu after recognizing a dragon patch on one of the guy’s coat that is indicative of what the Triads use to represent their smaller sects in the eastern province.
‘That’s ok, we understood what you were saying. We speak English.’
Embarrassed slightly, I attempted to repair my misstep. ‘Hao ba, hao long’, complimenting his dragon patch in part to be polite but mostly to illustrate to the Triads that I respected their rule in both greater China and greater Greenfield.
‘Again, we speak English and also this is a patch of an alligator because this shirt is from Lacoste. But no worries brother, we wish you a splendid night.’
The pizza that night was ok. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. It...
Read moreAt first I was a bit weary of this place due to lack of an online presence, but that fear was not necessary. The food here is fantastic! We ordered the pizza bagels and a large stromboli with meatball, and wow, was it delicious.
Word to the wise, the large stromboli was MASSIVE. My husband and I barely finished half of it. The bread was delightfully spongey (and garlic-y, and the inside was filled with delicious cheese, sauce, and tender meatballs. I will say that depending on the piece you get, you may get a little less filling (but I love garlic bread and my husband loves the filling, so it worked out for us).
The pizza bagels were tasty. One order contains 2 bagel halves. We got ours with pepperoni. The pepperoni was a bit haphazardly tossed on, but the bagel was cheesy and saucy enough that it didn't really matter.
They are cash only, so keep that in mind....
Read moreI was staying in Greenfield and decided to try to this local pizza place. Overall, the food is pretty good! I ordered a small pepperoni stromboli and a whole Italian hoagie. The Italian hoagie had a really good flavor. My only issue is that the bread was a bit too toasted for me and the onions were very pungent. Once I pulled them off, it was great and I'd probably order without onions next time. The pizza stromboli was a lot bigger than I expected for a small and had tons of pepperoni in it! The flavor was so good and I really loved the garlic flavor of the dough and the parmesan on top.
TLDR: Great flavors, good portions, watch out for...
