One of the best places I’ve stumbled upon in a long time! I was traveling for work and wanted a mid afternoon breakfast spot which after some quick research I found myself sitting at the bar at Grandma B’s.
Dorian (owner) and the other gentleman were two of the friendliest guys I’ve EVER met. They are the picture perfect example of how you should run a restaurant. These guys didn’t know me from a hole in the wall and treated me like family, literally! After ordering I realized they were cash only I informed them that I was going to head to a bank quick to get cash. Dorian insisted to eat first and get the cash later. After finishing my meal (steak and eggs, great choice if I may) Dorian said don’t worry about the bill, I can pay next time and additionally gifted me an order of their chicken fries on the house.
Class act here all the way around. As generous of an offer as it was I still went to the bank afterwards and returned with the cash but give this place a shot if you haven’t! I promise, you won’t be disappointed...
Read moreThis is a hot spot for breakfast and all my friends kept telling me to try it. The hours on Yelp and Google are posted wrong, because when I arrived they said they close at 1:30p on Sundays and 2:30p Monday through Saturday.
Although I arrived at closing time, they were nice enough to take our order as the last order of the day, since I drove 30 minutes to get here.
This is a cash only spot, so keep that in mind when ordering.
Man....I ate this food so fast I did not have a chance to take a picture. The "AL special" gives you a chance to experience a fulfilling breakfast of pancakes, cheese eggs, potatoes, and turkey bacon. I ordered the French Toast. They gave me three pieces which were perfectly cooked throughout and topped with butter and powder sugar. I honestly did not need much syrup, if any.
Overall, this is one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while, outside of my own. I will come back, but next time I will call ahead...
Read moreThis place was great. My son and I sat at the counter, next to an awesome Pittsburgh native named Daniel, who treated us to "the best sweet tea in the world." It certainly was the best I ever had! There were two gentlemen working there, one taking orders and serving the food, the other cooking. Busy as it was, the two kept things running like clockwork. Watching the chef was like watching an artist at work. And the food was delicious! My son had the steak, cheese eggs and home fries and I had the loaded breakfast fries. Upon the counterman's recommendation, we both had the sweet sauce, which was excellent. The chef treated us to some French toast, and although I wouldn't have thought I could eat another bite after my generous meal, I had no problem wolfing down the tasty toast. It's not a fancy place, but it was fresh, friendly and a...
