June 2024. The Sat and Sun lunch buffet is back, tried it today and it is bigger and better than ever. The live dosa and uttupam station is a hit. The staff efficient and friendly as ever. If you want to sample authentic South Indian food, try this place. Nov 2020 - The family wanted take-out from this great Indian restaurant. Called ahead and spoke to Ismail, he was patient and answered all my questions. We ordered online and the feast was ready for pick-up on time. The food was all accurate, with the right spice and a hit with the family. We definitely will order again from this place. Very authentic tasting Indian food. Feb 2020 - One of my favorite South Indian style restaurants in Pittsburgh. The lunch buffet is very good with unique dishes made in the South Indian style. I like to start with the soup (either sambar or rasam) which they had both on the buffet. Then go with a fried appetizer and tandoori chicken. For the mains, I try the various curries and then go back 1 more time for a few I really enjoyed. The gravy in the curries is very fresh and tasty with the right amount of spice. Then I go for dessert, usually a rice pudding and then finish with hot tea. The food, pricing and service is great here. The employees are always smiling and clear your dishes quickly. This is a great place on Banksville road just 10-15 minutes away from downtown and the North Shore. I definitely can get there, have a relaxed lunch and be back at my desk in an hour. Try this place, great South Indian food with some North Indian also.

Sep 2021 Update -- Had a chance to come back to this place and was glad I did. Went with two friends and while there are obvious cutbacks due to the events of the past two years but the food is still first rate and that's worth the visit. I am maintaining the five star rating. The clientele is still predominately ethnic Indian. In fact, throughout the evening, we were the only non-Indian patrons except for people picking up food, and for all I know, they were delivery people! The areas were there are obvious cutbacks are that the menu is much reduced from what it was, and that the serving dishes, plates, and the like, are now Melmac and plastic cups -- definitely a step backwards. The food is still incredibly inexpensive for what you are getting. The three of us got two appetizers, two main dishes, two breads and lassis. The meal averaged $20 per person. That's a great deal! 2018 - My favorite Indian restaurant in the South Hills. The flavors are always full-featured and spot on. The place is large and can accommodate parties from 2 to 20 with no difficulties. Walking into an ethnic restaurant and seeing lots of folks from that group as a large portion of the clientele is always a good sign and that's what we found there. You need to be a bit patient as they take time to prepare your food and the food comes out of the kitchen in some sort of order, but not one thats clear to us. Still an excellent meal and place.

A couple of weeks back, My friends and I ordered the food from uber eats, and we didn't receive the entire order. We called the restaurant and said about the issue. They replied they would save our name, and during the following order, they would give the food item. Today I went to the restaurant for the food; I asked them about missing previous order items, and They said they couldn't find any information about the order. I am good with that one, but the guy searching for the orders rudely addresses me with their people in his language. I can speak the same language, but I started the conversation in English. I drove back home, gathered my friend's order information, and returned to the restaurant to show the order details. I just returned to the restaurant to prove that I wasn't lying and tell those people not to address me rudely, but the same guy is not there. I know the language; that's why I asked back to talk appropriately. You guys are saying sorry after I said I understand the language. I came back not for either missed food or a money refund. Just talk with us in the way we are talking with you. I commented because I have self-respect. What if I do not know your language? Then I never know that you guys are talking rudely about us. I attached a screenshot of the order, and you can say that it is from your restaurant with food items.

Last time we came, we fell in love with this place so I went for b-day dinner. Last night, we saw a different place completely. First, they bring us pitchers of water with no cups. We wait and wait, I go ask if we can put in our order and drinks. He says he's not the waiter but there's no one else there to help us. But then in 5min he changed his mind I guess and took our order. I asked for cups to go with the water jugs and we got tiny, mouthwash-sized plastic cups. So weird. He took our order and then informed us AFTER that everything we ordered isn't the price on the menu but higher, because they gave us old menus. Huh??? What are the prices then??? We asked him if we could order drinks now and he was super confused like this was the first time he had ever waited tables. Our drinks came out all wrong of course. Food then came out and it was OK. Not nearly as good as last time. But they tried to short us on the rice and the appetizers were cold and weird. I asked for mint chutney and they rolled their eyes and brought us a to-go sized plastic container of it. Just really strange, like the water cups. The curries also came with no serving spoons. Totally bizarre for an Indian restaurant. I asked for some and again they rolled their eyes. After we got our food we NEVER SAW THE WAITER AGAIN. Like not even to get paid??? This guy was totally preoccupied with the dozens of Uber eats drivers coming in and waiting but he didn't care about us at all after the food was brought. Did not refill drinks, did not ask us how it was, did not say thank you, NOTHING. Then proceeded to give themselves a decent mandatory tip. Loved it last time, but something changed and I'm never...

I ordered take out on Friday 07/12/24 for total 4 items. 1) chicken biryani( medium spicy) 2) chicken Sheeekh kabab 3) garlic and butter naan 4) chicken curry ( medium spicy) .

Chicken sheekh kabab: The worst state I had ever. Just powdery , dried and felt like heated up old left overs and complete disaster. I still didn’t even touch it. Pic attached.

Chicken Curry: They made it so spicy even after adding 4 potatoes and one tomato, 3 tablespoons ghee and one quarter butter it still very hot and spicy. I am from south India and I eat medium spicy food but it is no close to medium and made with red hot chilli and my family didn’t even touch it who are born here.

Chicken Biryani: The same with chicken biryani it didn’t taste like anything and the chicken is so hard and could be from old leftovers. I mixed one part of biryani with 2 parts of rice and some ghee and butter it still spicy. I don’t understand the their concept of medium spicy.

Naan: I ordered 3 naan 2 garlic naan and 1 butter naan. I added pics. A little bit burnt and made in tandoori oven actually nice but they made it on pan and burned to death. Pictures added.

I drive weekends to downtown Green tree restaurant to get good quality of food. This food disappointed me and my family. I always give tip even for takeout orders atleast 10%. It used to provide nice quality before but not anymore. And the surroundings of the restaurant are also not very clean .They should adhere to some kind of cleanliness . I always wanted restaurants like this to stay who had good history and should maintain the consistency in their food and should take the job and...

One of the worst experience I have ever had in this locality. There are too many problems mainly with this Indian restaurant first. Firstly their staffs talk way too much which shows their level of ignorance. For instance, I ordered cut mirchi- appetizer which is pretty popular everywhere known for rainy day delight. It is commonly served with dips on the side. Some restaurants may not serve it with a dip which is totally fine. But the problem is when you try to politely inquire about this to the staff. They instantly respond with callous and baseless attitude. I let this slide too because they are all bunch of young people/new hires needs better training.

Secondly and the most hurtful thing is when their manager/owner also responds in a similar way. Now when you politely address your issues, the owner becomes too assertive and overly confident about his meal preparation and goes to a level that indirectly implies this is what we have and you have to eat it. Without even further investigating into the issue, the owner stands so rigid to his ground and doesn't even wants to give customer a sense of comfort that the issue will be investigated and if there's really an issue will be resolved appropriately. For instance, I have been non meat eater since my birth and I can clearly tell if the food is prepared or cooked in the same oil which is used for meat. Even if I were wrong, I had my partner with me who is a meat eater, also acknowledged that it's contaminated with meat oil. Let alone the resolution for problems, these guys are not even regretful implies hell with customers polite and humble feedback. We...
