Absolutely blown away by this place and enjoyed every item that I got to try out. Such a nice homemade feeling when trying this food out. The prices are all extremely fair, portions are great, the food is fresh, and it just really hits the spot. I got to try the red bean stew meal with salad and brown rice, as well as the ferrini pudding for dessert.
Everything was great. The red bean stew was heart and well seasoned. Nice amount of stew and beans. Great packaging too. The brown rice was well made, too, and a great side to this stew.
They also included a lovely little side salad to go alongside this meal. It had a lot of cucumber, but also some lettuce and other items. I loved the slightly acid but chunky dressing.
The ferrini was such a pleasant surprise. I’ve only had this once before at a different place and it was disappointing. Not here. This ferrini was creamy, flavorful, milky, smooth, and had the perfect balance of sweetness. Loved it, and a reasonable price too.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this spot. The food is so fresh and tastes homemade. Try the bean stew...
Read moreOn our first visit, we were welcomed cordially into a friendly and informal atmosphere.
We had two stews and two rices: chicken stew with brown rice and veggie stew with white rice. Both rices were perfectly cooked, and the stews incorporated an appealing variety of ingredients and rustic flavors reminiscent of good, honest home cooking, albeit the seasoning was on the tame side. The ferni/fereni pudding was an unexpected delight that left us wanting to research some recipes to reproduce it at home.
The only flaw that dampened the experience was the high level of salt, especially in the veggie stew. Both rices also had a moderate salt level, as well as a fair amount of butter or oil. The combined saltiness had us drinking lots of water for the rest of the evening. If I were the chef, I'd cut the salt in the stew by half, and completely omit it from the rices.
That said, portion sizes and prices were quite fair. We look forward to a return visit to sample more of the memu, and we wish them success with this concept of hearty and wholesome dishes, cooked from scratch as they...
Read moreI think this place is an underrated gem, that more people in Pittsburgh. It's affordable too, you get a great deal with their meals. First time experiencing Persian food and it was fantastic.
I had the chicken stew meal, it came with a side salad with a dressing that was like a green chili chutney and it complemented everything.
The main course was flavorful as the chicken had a great taste with the gravy and pairs great with brown rice.
The Ferrini will be a different taste at first, it's not yogurt but it was a smart choice to combine the pistachios and mix it in. Towards the end I seen the vision it's great too.
It was great to talk to the owner at closing, definitely should support this business. I'm coming back as soon as possible to try the lamb...
