Squirrel Hill Sports Bar — Restaurant in Pittsburgh

It kills me to have to write this review. I was really excited to check this place out. Based on other reviews it's a great place and I want to assume that I just so happened to be that 1 in 10 that day.

Long story short, their Facebook event was nothing like what was actually going on. I felt like I was completely bait and switched. They don't serve any food whatsoever which is completely fine. Especially since they have lots of opportunities for people to get delivery to the location.

So for a place that doesn't do food, I expect the bar to be crazy good especially with the reviews. But unfortunately, that wasn't the case for my group. We arrived around 8pm (plus or minus 5 min) and sat right at the bar. In 2 minutes or less the bartender was already checking on us and seeing what she could do to help us out or what we would like to order. I was rather surprised to find that they don't have any sort of drink menu even though a few of the online reviews mentioned great prices? So we placed an order and got our drinks pretty fast! Off to a great start! The bartender asked if we'd like to start a table and took our card.... that was the last we were talked to by anyone behind the bar for over 1 hour. We stood up to leave at 9:20 pm. But they still had our card. We felt like we practically had to do jumping jacks to get anyone's attention. When one of the bartenders finally gave us some attention, we closed our table and got the cards back. And I will admit that the One Singular drink we got in nearly 90min was a very good price at $4.

It's really a shame. We had every intention of making in an entire night and hanging out and having multiple drinks and possibly even ordering in food. I still can't figure out why they asked us to start a tab and give them a card to hold on to if they were never going to come back to see what we wanted.

I am thoroughly enamored with this establishment. The bartenders possess an exceptional degree of affability, to the point where I've cultivated a close friendship with one. The service is consistently impeccable. Moreover, the prices are remarkably competitive. I was part of a 5 person veteran reunion from all parts of the US and we were looking for a place to play pool and have a couple refreshments. When we walked in this place, the owner made a point of making us feel comfortable. He went out of his way to introduce us to his friends and employees. What a great place and what a great man.
