Zingerman's Coffee Company — Restaurant in Pittsfield Charter Township

Was a bit disappointed by my service and coffee. Friendly staff but they they prepped my pour over coffee then just kind of left it there, getting some stuff from the back and helping other folks which is fine (I work in the service industry myself) but clear breaks to get to my order and... Nothing. Finally made eyes with someone and guestured to my order, they got out from under the filter it gave a quick apology for the wait which I appreciate. However, the drink was only just barely warm enough for the first couple of sips to be enjoyable then quickly lukewarm. I feel like the coffee sitting under the grounds for so long let too much of the bitter tastes drip down somewhat defeating the purpose of the pour over process so it was good a good roast but could have been better.

Coffee is an easy thing to roll your eyes at when people get high and mighty about it's quality and preparation. I certainly can't stand it when people treat a cup like it's a wine tasting in France. That said, a good roast and thoughtful prep can make a brew worth the premium, and that's why I'm giving it a lower rating... when a place is made around a single product it matters more when things go awry. We came to Zingerman’s in search for coffee during a trip to Ann Arbor. We love the Coffee Board!! It was impressive and when we were overwhelmed by choices the staff was so friendly and helpful but most importantly educated coffee experts! You might learn a thing or two from them if you just ask a few questions while you search for your perfect cup of coffee. The coffee was the best I’ve tasted! We especially loved how you can choose your bean/roast and then your brew style. Our favorite after several visits was pour over coffee!
