I was so excited to see an authentic Mexican restaurant in my city. Everyone working was super kind and helpful. But, my initial impression did not start out well, but turns out they were simple new opening things still being worked out. No problemo. The environment is classic Jalisco. A little surprised how hard they went with skeleton decor in a rural, conservative town. The salsa was good but could have used more cilantro and more heat. Just a little too mild. The hot was ok. The queso was delicious but cooks fast so eat quickly. The asada in my burrito was over seasoned and over cooked. Kind of surprising since I was the first customer of the day. Wondering if the taste is Jalisco or Jalisco trying to be Midwest friendly. Nice people. Mediocre food. Huge menu so maybe I’ll come back some day and see if it was a fluke. Today was their grand opening, and I went in expecting at least one hiccup after all, it’s the first day. Instead, I was blown away. The place was packed, yet the service was friendly, attentive, and impressively fast. I ordered a burrito with chicken, shrimp, and steak, as well as shrimp tacos. The chipotle sauce on the tacos was truly out of this world—hands down the best I’ve ever had. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
