We brought our Mom who was visiting. It's tradition, she takes all the ladies in our family to the Chocolate Tea room whenever she comes to town. here you see live piano music and can walk around a vintage store filled with, antiques, furniture, jewelry, china dishes. Last year we experienced the High Tea. How exciting it was to have delicious food in several courses! This year we decided to try the Luncheon menu. The Combo meals did not disappoint:) I had the Caly-BLT w/ smoked Bacon and Provolone. This comes with a side salad, super fresh with bright apple slices to sweeten it. And kettle chips so smackilishessly tasty!! We can't forget about the Tea since it is after all, the star of the show! We tried to order multiple teapots for the table, but there was confusion with our server. She was frustrated with our questions. She told us the multiple pots order was only available during High tea and must be pre-ordered. At one point she began rolling her eyes and smacking her papers onto her leg as if extremely  irritated. I wish I could say we gave her a reason, but perhaps it was due to a busy day and she was frustrated. Later she did  return to the table with a changed attitude saying she could bring 3 pots to the table for a certain price. I gave Food and Atmosphere a higher score since our food & Tea was so delicious. All different sandwiches each with different breads and fillings. The luncheon prices were very reasonable, combo plates between $12.99 - 15.99 and the portions are HUGE. Overall we rate Chocolate Tea room 3-stars due to the service issues. But everyone at our table loved the food and Tea, couldn''t stop raving about it.. We give 4-stars for Food. Great value and quality for the price. Come on down to try The Chocolate Angel Cafe & Tea room ☕

Food was amazing. I got the chocolate angel tea sampler with tomato basil soup. The lemonade tasted like it was made in house since there was minimum lemon taste and not a lot of sugar. Raspberry sweet tea tasted like brisk (I think they top off drinks for free). The menu was very affordable. I paid $19.74 before tax&tip. The place itself is very aesthetic and in theme with the antique store. It was a little difficult to find the cafe since there was no sign pointing to where it was. For those looking, it’s in the far back on the left side of the store. Overall, the place and food itself was nice. The service is my only complaint. First, our waiter came to the table to ask what we wanted to drink and started listing drinks. I didn’t hear the first part and asked for clarification on what the mango drink was. She rudely said it was a sweet tea. Next, when she came back, I asked about tea time and she said (with an attitude) that it was later in the day and she can only get me hot tea right now. I asked what “hot tea” was since I assumed it was another version of tea time… I don’t go to tea time a lot so I was unaware it was just literal hot tea. She looked at me like I had a “loose screw in my head”. I booked the day before on OpenTable for 11am. I didn’t check the website, so this was a mistake on my end for not knowing when tea time started. Needless to say, I will not be back to this location due to service. Maybe I will try a different location next time. Again, food was WONDERFUL!

I am a regular for lunch service & have a wonderful time. I decided to have my daughter’s 30th birthday celebration here with High Tea. The food was wonderful and the tea was lovely. We were a table of 11 people, and sad to say, the service was horrible. We felt forgotten. Several people were with an empty tea cup until they finally came around to fill the forgotten people. Same with the lunch and dessert trays, several got their food last after everyone else for 10 minutes or so later. Not ok! They should have put several tea pots on table to accommodate our party and brought all food out at the same time so no one was left out. I do not recommend if your party is over 4 people, obviously they are not able to accommodate. Very disappointing. They added 18% gratuity to my bill and I am sorry, but not worth the service we received for this event. Will not do again here. I will just stick to the average lunch. No party! They did not earn it.

I ate here for the first time today. Let me start with "the good."

The location is excellent. It is easy to get to off of George Bush and Central Expressway. It is located in an antique store which lends just the right ambiance.

There was live piano music. It was excellent.

The food was very good. I had the Salad Sampler: chicken salad, pasta salad and spinach salad. I didn't eat dessert, but several at our table did. They said it was excellent.

I don't know if this is really a "good" for customers, but the place was very full. This attests to the fact that the food is good. Most everyone in there was of the 50+ crowd. Apparently, it doesn't attract young people. There appeared to be seating for anyone who needed a table though I do not know that for sure. We had reservations.

Now ... you must be wondering why I only gave three stars if I liked the food, music and location. Well, here go the "not so good" parts of the visit:

We arrived at 11:30. We were not brought our food until 12:15 or 12:30. In other words, we waited a LONG time. Nothing on the menu needs to be cooked after the crowd arrives. I have NO idea why it took so long to be fed. We weren't the only ones waiting. Everyone waited a long time. It is nice not to be rushed, but some of our group finally had to get their food to go because they could wait no longer.

The food is rather expensive. My plate was over $10. The portions were an ice-cream scoop of chicken salad, an ice-cream scoop of pasta salad, and a decent amount of spinach salad. I know it is a tearoom. I'm sure we paid as much for the ambiance as the food. Still, at that price, I sort of expected to have some left overs. None of us had any left overs.

One person at our table couldn't wait to get strawberry pie. Two people at our table ordered it. Unfortunately, it was all gone. It might not have been all gone if we had gotten our food in a more reasonable timeframe... I do understand it would be tough to know what the customers are going to want for dessert every day.

When my bill arrived, I was charged for a gratuity and a tip. I asked the waiter what the difference was between a gratuity and a tip - I always thought they were the same. The tip amount charged was about half the amount charged for gratuity. Well, it turns out that it was supposed to have been a system fluke. No one else at our table was charged a tip, just a gratuity.

Which brings me to ... be careful. Check your bill! Most everyone at our table was tipping based on the total amount of the bill, without noticing they had already been billed for a gratuity. That works out good for the waiters, but not so good for your pocketbook, unless you just want to tip a large amount.

So ...

The food is very good. The service is okay. (We were told they were short-handed today. Our waiter was really nice, just not real attentive.) The location is fabulous. If you have plenty of time and want a relaxing meal,...
