November 2024 There are multiple Saltgrass restaurants throughout N. Dallas and we've been to all of them. However, the BEST is THIS Saltgrass (North Dallas Tollway & Parker intersection). Because of servers like "Jojo!" She is super attentive, friendly, & very attentive. We like the 4 pm - 6 pm early dinner price$. This evening, I ordered the Pork BBQ Ribs, and they were "fall off the bone" with crispy bites! The platter was so generous that I brought half my dinner home. Allan's chicken fried steak was massive & he loved it.
August 2023 Dined at THE BEST Saltgrass in the DFW! Plano Saltgrass on the North Dallas Tollway. Chris, our server was outstanding (as always). Allan ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and fresh greenbeans with the fantastic "Saltgrass Seasoning" and a quartino of Texas Hold 'Em. He loves this Texas wine! I ordered the Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad and a glass of Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon. It is such a generous serving that I took half of it home to enjoy for lunch the following day. Last year, I purchased a huge container of the signature Saltgrass Seasoning. I sprinkle it on fresh greenbeans and hamburgers when I make them at home. I highly suggest you buy a bottle. Did you know a Bakery Chef makes the Saltgrass Carrot Cakes and Shiner Bock beer batter breads? Here at the Plano location, his name is Victor, and HE is outstanding at baking the signature, Saltgrass Carrot Cake - It is absolute perfection and unmatched in all of Dallas Monday eve, we enjoyed another wonderful dining experience at the Plano Saltgrass. We've traveled the world and the seven seas, but THIS Saltgrass is THE BEST! Question: Do you want to eat steak and earn points toward a complimentary steak meal? You CAN at Saltgrass! Saltgrass has a loyalty rewards system. Every purchase you make, racks up points, and one can earn a $25 gift card toward a comp meal. In this Loyalty Club, Allan & I both get a complimentary meal on our birthdays; my birthday, Allan's birthday, AND our anniversary! What we like to do is accumulate our rewards and save them for a birthday, anniversary or holiday. Rack up your points, and eventually, the two of you can dine on complimentary meals. You can not beat this deal! Also, on M - F, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm, the Early Dinner begins, and the menu is at a discount. Allan & I jokingly refer to the Early Dining as "The Blue Hair Special." At 4:30 when we go, it's ppl our age so I refer to us a Blue Hairs. Don't hate me!! WE LOVE the Blue Hair Special! You're going to go out to eat anyway - might was well rack up points for a comp meal, right? Ask them about the Loyalty Rewards card! You'll be glad you did! Enjoy ❤️
We've visited several Saltgrass restaurants locally, but the Plano restaurant is our favorite. The food is always excellent b/c their cooks are the best, and the service is the best. If you've never ordered the grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad, try it! You'll love it! The hamburger comes with fries, and this burger & fries are "The total package." Pictured here a piece of my medium burger. They're huge; I can never finish mine and give at least 1/4 of it away. I turned to snap a photo of my husband's Chicken Fied Chicken Steak, but he only had one bite left! He always orders the fresh greenbeans with the Saltgrass Seasoning on them. BTW: one can purchase a big sprinkle jar of the Saltgrass Seasoning. At home, I put it on all our homemade burgers and greenbeans. We also enjoyed a glass of Texas Hold 'Em wine with our meal. Note: Dessert lovers: The BEST Carrot Cake in the world is here at Saltgrass. We rack up rewards at Saltgrass, so every birthday and anniversary, we are treated to a comp celebration meal. Also, they serve "Early Dinner" (M- F) with great reduced prices. So whether in your in the mood for a "total package" awesome burger or a fantastic Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad, with great prices, Salt Grass is the place! And it's worth it to travel to the Plano location right off the North...
Read moreYesterday evening, around 8:00 PM, my husband and I dined at this Saltgrass in Plano. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I strongly believe the treatment we received was racially motivated.
From the start, our assigned server appeared disengaged and inattentive. Over the course of more than an hour, she only came to our table twice on her own, and a third time only after it was clear I was upset. When she first dropped off our drinks, she walked away quickly before I could even request additional items. I had to call her back, but the items I asked for, including a bar drink, never arrived.
Our main dishes were eventually brought by another waiter, not our server. By then, my missing items still hadn’t arrived, leaving me unable to enjoy the meal while it was hot. When the server finally returned, I asked her directly not to leave until I could clarify my requests, including replacing the drink that never came. Even then, those items took so long to arrive that my food was cold by the time I was able to take a bite, and that’s the only bite I took of my food.
Her treatment felt deliberate, dismissive, and personal, almost as though it was directed at us because of who we are. What could have been a pleasant evening at a restaurant that holds sentimental value for us instead felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
I asked to speak to the manager, who apologized and said he would comp the meal and remove the server from our table. However, he never returned personally. Instead, another server, Jojo, was sent to finish out the visit. In the end, only part of the bill was comped. While I want to be clear that we were prepared to pay in full, the issue was never about money or the food it self, it was about the poor and possibly biased service and the lack of accountability in how it was handled.
I also want to note that I worked in the service industry for many years, including at a steakhouse. I understand firsthand the challenges servers face, and I also know what appropriate handling of guest concerns should look like. Because of that experience, I was especially disappointed with how my situation was addressed, both by my server and by management.
This restaurant is meaningful to us, as it was the site of my husband’s and my first date years ago. I had even joined the Landry’s Select Club after a great experience in Jojo’s section the week before. But after last night, I cannot see us returning. What should have been a special and enjoyable evening was overshadowed by unprofessional and possibly discriminatory service, coupled with a management response that minimized the seriousness of...
Read moreWe went to Saltgrass for the first time the other week for happy hour. Before arriving we called to make sure they were still doing happy hour and upon arrival specified we were there for happy hour. We were asked where we wanted to sit and I asked if we had to sit in the bar area to get the specials and they said no we can sit anywhere. There also wasn't anyone there so it gave us plenty of options - but that's pretty typical for the odd time we were there. So we chose the nice seats by the fireplace. After being greeted by the waiter we asked what wines and appetizers were part of the happy hour. He was unaware of which ones and had to ask then get the bartender or another server over to help out. I got a chardonnay that was more upscale than the happy hour white wine because they had run out of the other one so that was nice. My husband got a margarita and said it was so so. We also got the cheese fries. These were by no means anything special and the potatoes tasted a little old. Our waiter was constantly hounding us and asking when we wanted to order dinner we kept saying we were just thinking about it and would let him know if we wanted to order anything more. I knew at that point he then thought we were there for dinner and not happy hour so it was extremely uncomfortable to keep getting asked what else we wanted to order ... We finally got to the point where we had to repeat we just wanted to do the happy hour appetizer special and drinks. He looked very disappointed and then said there's seating restrictions for happy hour and that it's limited to the bar area. Oh mylanta... then comes this long spiel about how great the desserts are and if we want to pay for one of their restaurant memberships... Then I had to explain that when we came in we asked if we had to sit at the bar to which they said we can sit anywhere. The bill was then also wrong because they had charged us full price for the one appetizer we got.... Then we had to ask about that and they had to send the manager over and we had to explain for the fifth time we were there for happy hour. Then was told there's seating restrictions but the manager said they take care of their customers so they'll adjust the bill. The waiter was clearly annoyed at the end of this ordeal which I feel bad about but geez how many times do you have to explain yourself just for some drink and appetizer specials..... This was a very uncomfortable experience and we will not...
