I came to wave bowl with my wife on Mothers day. We came 4 minutes before the kitchen closed and I could tell the staff were slightly upset we were walking in so late. Having worked in the service industry myself, even I would have felt the same way. They still accepted us and the food (Wave Racha Bowl) was fresh, delicious, and plenty for both my wife and I.
It wasn’t until a few bites into our food that we heard a stranger nearby at a table start getting into it with the worker about gratuity. This review isn’t to cover who was in the right or wrong. Anyone who thinks about the situation can make an argument that the customer was right to not have the gratuity added since she had little children and some people might say the restaurant staff is right to enforce the tipping policy. What I want to focus on is the scene that took place that day and how fast it got out of hand by the customer.
She also wrote a review you can see here, it left out many major parts to the story. The first to raise their voice was in fact the customer. Phones were pulled out, and the first one to do that also and start recording was again, the customer.
When the male customer in the party put his phone away he began to jump into the argument and raise his voice. He then asked the women to come outside and they just leave. Which was what their friends who they came with wanted as to not cause a scene. That is the smart move. Yet the women continued to push the argument and demand an apology for the restaurant waitress “being rude”.
It truly escalated when the man in the party pulled out his credit and DEMANDED that the restaurant use his card and charge the gratuity. The restaurant then said “no it’s okay we do not need that” but the man would not leave until his card was swiped.
The man was given many chances to not raise his voices and to just leave but something snapped in him and he pointed his finger at the young waitress and yelled at the top of his lungs. From his facial expression you could see at this point his eyes were bulging and he was at his breaking point. This is something that no person, child or adult, should ever see in their life from another person. It’s unacceptable for anybody to raise their voice to that level, especially in public. Pains me to think how he could get upset to his own personal friends and family members if he’s so easily willing to get upset over something so small in public.
Wave bowl is loved by many and it is a great family owned restaurant that many people in the community like to go to. To be comfortable enough to raise your voice AT ALL in this type of family owned restaurant where other families come to have a good time is disgraceful and some self evaluation is necessary for the party.

DETAILS:
We have been to Wave Bowl several times, the food has always been top quality, flavorful, and fresh, and we have recommended it to all of our friends and family. Two weeks ago, my uncle and his whole family ate here for the first time and hated it. They said out of the five dishes they ordered, one was “okay” and the rest were horrible. My cousin even got sick after eating there. I refused to believe anyone could hate the food at Wave Bowl. So much so, that I wanted to prove my uncle’s family’s dining experience there as a weird outlier, and my husband and I decided to go to dinner there for date night.
**Tamarind spicy wings. Absolutely inedible. There was a horrible smell to them, like the meat was going bad. The wings had been delicious every time we had visited before, but they were so bad this time that I had to spit out the first bite I took. We informed the server, she apologized and took the plate back. No manager or lead came to apologize. No refunds were offered. We aren’t one to make a scene or beg for a $7 refund. So, we hoped it was a fluke and waited for our entrees.
**Sweet and Spicy Korean Bowl: Horrible. The meat seemed to have been cooked a while ago. It was stale and cold, and the flavors were… just gross. The fried rice that came with the dish was cold. It definitely was not made fresh, and wasn’t even reheated well. I couldn’t eat more than a bite of each the meat and the rice. I wanted to return it, because I seriously thought it could make us sick. But seeing as the returned wings didn’t lead to anything, we didn’t see a point in bringing up yet another issue… especially since after trying this dish, we had decided that we will never return to Wave Bowl again. $15.50 before tax down the drain.
**Korean Ribs: This dish has always been my absolute favorite thing to get at Wave Bowl. Today, it was just average. The ribs were at least cooked fresh. However, they have either changed meat suppliers or have opted for lower quality meat from the same supplier. The quality of the meat was nowhere near worth $18.50 before tax.
Goodbye, Wave Bowl. We used to love you. It’s you, not me. And we’ll make sure to tell all our family and friends about how things...
Read moreWe went to wave bowl today for the first time. We were 4 people and 2 kids ( 4 years and 3 years old) . At the time of payment , they asked if the kids were going to eat or not . If they eat they will charge us 18% for child. We ordered and enjoyed the food and dessert. After we were done , we were telling the waiter that thank you and your food was good. The waiter was very rude and said that I saw your kids eating and you said they will not eat. Next time don’t do that . She said this rudely as if we ate without making any payment. I was silent . After few minutes , I asked that my kids cannot take a bite from my plate ? My kids just had one bite of spring roll and my friends daughter just had 3 to 4 bites of spring roll and from the dessert they just had the whipped cream.
I asked the waiter that my kids cannot take a single bite from my plate ? Do I deserve this kind of behavior on a special day like Mother’s Day? What was my mistake that I gave my child few bites from my food ? Who gave the waiter this right to talk to me like this ? Was I rude ?
I called the restaurant again and talked to the owner’s daughter. I requested her to watch the cctv camera and video who treated badly first . My brother recorded for few minutes the way the waiter was behaving. We asked the waiter to take the money for the two kids . I am ready to pay any moment . But can I get the behavior back ?
As a customer , I deserve a good behavior. Even if I am wrong , I demand a good behavior as a customer .
Later on when we went to the cashier to pay , the waiter was saying that I am a worker and you are yelling like this ? She was turning this into a different point. First of all , she being a waiter started talking to us rudely . She has no right to talk to us like this .
If they asked money they could have give us the receipt to make any payment .
I have the proof that it will show how I was talking and how the waiter was talking to me . Very...
