We went here recently for brunch & our overall experience was not good!
We ordered Malai paratha that was not on their regular menu & were told that it was "special", plain paratha, Irani chai with milk, & Kashmiri chai.
Their "specials" were listed separately on the chalk board behind the front counter, but Malai paratha was not on it for whatever reasons. I think "special" menu should be in front of the customers so that they can clearly see. Good thing I asked for the special of the day. Why was it not listed on the chalk board? How come the server never bothered to mention all the specials? How would the customer know about all these non-menu items if chalk board is hidden & the server will not tell either?
Malai paratha came with house made yogurt, little honey, & house made, decent, size paratha. Irani chai with milk came in a regular cup & had sugar already mixed in it!
When ordering our tea, I specifically asked for the sizes of our tea to see if we needed to order more than 1, but the server wasn't sure about the exact sizes of our tea. Why not put an actual size of the cup in front of the ordering counter & make everyone's life easy? I found out that all of their tea only come in one size & different tea had their own sizes!
Our tea came in with sugar pre-mixed in it! Again, server didn't bother to tell us this important information as the mixed sugar felt heavy to us. What if someone has any sugar intake restrictions? How about not mix any sugar at all & have customers add according to their taste instead?
Malai paratha & house made yogurt were good & worth the money. Unfortunately, plain paratha was a big ripoff! Did not come with anything beside the small size paratha which costed us $3.99+tax! These type of parathas are sold in South Asian grocery stores for around $6 for 5 of them! Why selling for so expensive? We thought plain paratha would be their house made paratha like we got with our Malai paratha order otherwise we would not have ordered it.
Both tea were also not good. Kashmiri chai tasted like a coconut syrup was mixed in it! It tasted so bad that we had to ask for a replacement & got Karak chai instead. Karak chai was also nothing special. Just a regular home made tea type of taste which again was heavily laced with sugar. We left half of the cup.
Irani chai with milk was just okay, but mixed sugar made it nothing special.
Last but not least, there are only few establishment (to my knowledge), specially in TX, where they charge extra in the name of "service fees" on top of their menu prices - unfortunately, this business is one of them!
Their food menu prices are already on the expensive side. Why charging almost 4% "extra" in the name of service fees then? On top, this extra fees is not even disclosed anywhere & you will only find out after payment!
Charging this extra fees is ridiculous! The disappointing part is that they don't have any posting or sign that says anything about this extra charge. Isn't this fraud & unethical? How many people pay attention to their receipt? People don't even asked for their receipt let aside checking the receipt for what they have been charged for.
It doesn't matter how much business is paying to the credit processor or whatever overhead they are paying for. Menu prices should include everything. Or, don't take any cards & just accept cash. Or, at the least, put a clear sign at the payment terminal about this extra charge so customer will be clear on what exactly they are paying for.
Not a single time anyone came & check on us if we needed anything after initially serving our food even though restaurant only had 1 other family beside us.
At one point I saw a lady (owner/manager) came out of the kitchen & went to the front register to check something. I thought she was going to stop by on us, but she just walked back to the kitchen. Last I saw her she was on the phone.
Based upon our personal experience, I will not go back or recommend this restaurant to others unless they improve their customer service, business...

Read moreAs an avid tea lover, I was excited to visit Chai Wallah Plano and experience their chai offerings. While the chai itself did not disappoint, I found myself disappointed by the food options.
Let's start with the positive aspects. The chai at Chai Wallah Plano is undoubtedly their highlight. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was delightful. The staff also seemed knowledgeable about the different types of chai and were happy to guide customers in their selection.
However, when it came to the food, I must admit that I was underwhelmed. The menu is creative, but the execution fell massively short of expectations. The dishes I tried- Omelette-Chicken Paratha Roll 0, Pepper Chicken Sandwich-0, Chicken Samosa-0, Loaded Fries with Chicken-4, Butter Chicken Sandwich-4, Bun Kabab-2, Irani Chai-4, Kadak Chai-1 all in all the taste lacked that special something that would make them memorable and worth coming back for. The flavors were somewhat flat, and the portion sizes were disappointingly small. Additionally, the prices seemed a bit high considering the quality and quantity of the food. 4 people at $120 leaving with no joy. Not worth. Another aspect that detracted from the overall experience was the ambiance. While Chai Wallah Plano aimed for a cozy and inviting atmosphere, the space felt cramped and lacked proper seating arrangements. The noise level was often high, making it difficult to have a relaxed conversation.
On a positive note, the staff members were friendly and attentive, providing prompt service throughout my visit. They were accommodating when it came to personal preferences and dietary restrictions, which is always appreciated.
In summary, while Chai Wallah Plano excels in delivering chai experience, the same cannot be said for their food offerings. The lack of variety, uninspiring flavors, and relatively high prices left much to be desired.
If you're primarily looking JUST for a good cup of chai, Chai Wallah Plano won't disappoint. However, if you're seeking a memorable culinary experience, you might want to explore other options...
