I love to shop at World Market, especially at Christmas time! They have lots of unique ornaments, stocking stuffers, home decor and more. The only mistake I made was shopping on Saturday during this crazy Covid Christmas season. Many shoppers were not wearing masks correctly, if at all, and they were not able to maintain 6 feet of separation the way the check out is organized. The line to check out zigzags so that the rows of people are only about 4 feet apart. My anxiety was starting to inch upward while waiting in that line.
That being said, on this particular afternoon, I managed to drop my wallet in the parking lot just outside the store and not realize it. Some good Samaritan returned it to the manager at World Market. So very grateful to that person! After realizing some 30 minutes later that I no longer had my wallet, I frantically returned to the store. One of the clerks told me the manager found me on Facebook and sent me a message, so I asked an employee who was less busy to let the manager know I was in the store to retrieve my wallet. I really felt she went above and beyond to help!
(The photo I included here was the only one I took in the store to help my friend who is looking for the...
Read moreI came in to return a gift today and Mari, at checkout, was downright rude to me. I had the receipt, but since it was a gift I did not have the same credit card. She said she couldn’t give me a refund at all. She could only give me store credit. I asked her what about people who lost their card or it was stolen. She told me that was a bank problem. Then she told me that she needed to call a manager because it was time for her to go home and she was done dealing with me. SERIOUSLY. SHE ACTUALLY SAID THAT. I assure you, I did not raise my voice, I wasn’t rude, I wasn’t agitated. There was no reason to treat me that way.
When the manager came, he made it seem like the refund was no big deal and could get it taken care of right away. I explained to him what happened with Mari and he was very apologetic. He allowed me to put the refund on my own debit card and gave me a tin of cookies. He promised to take care of the problem, but who knows what that means?
I’m hoping that Mari was just having a bad day and that’s not really how she...
Read moreAbsolutely wondrous place, so whimsical, delightful, and eclectic! Albeit pricey. Definitely not a daily shopping place, if your budget is tight. I am a big fan of Maltesars chocolate balls but they don’t have the individual balls here - only a “Teasers” biscuit version from Germany and the Netherlands that is one whole chocolate bar with small tiny crispy balls. Still delicious!
This market has 3 of my favorite brands: Maltesers chocolate Meiji Hello Panda chocolate cookies (also in strawberry and caramel flavors) McVities Digestives cookies from the UK, including in Hob Nobs Gluten-Free versions. Came to know they even have White Chocolate Digestives here!
The music playing in the background is so diverse - you’ve got your standard holiday Christmas music playing in the background as well as Indian songs. Loved hearing some familiar Bollywood in the background while browsing the store. Good collection. But come prepared to spend more dollars than you would like for gifts...
