Mavericks — Restaurant in Pleasanton

Mavericks has had different types soft music. They used to have salsa music and Latin bands. They have reinvented as a country western bar with live music. My friends and I went on a Saturday evening to take the line dancing lessons and dance to a DJ and country music band. The staff and patrons were nice. The dance instructors are patient and proficient. As a beginner it was hard to keep up because line dancing requires you to switch from right to front to left and front again and I couldn’t follow the people in front. We had a lot of fun learning. Watching the advanced line dancers dance to DJ snd live music was inspiring. The place was packed by 7:30 pm and parking was very limited so going earlier is recommended. It cost $5 entry fee before 8 pm and $10 afterwards which is a deal in comparison to other places I’ve been with live bands and DJs. I don’t know what the alcoholic drinks are like because I drove but the patrons seemed to enjoy them. They also serve food. For an extra fee you can ride the mechanical bull. Dj doesn't know what he's doing or how to incorporate different songs and doesn't want to change anything. And when you ask him he acts like he has a plan. In reality he has no idea what he's doing and is playing a set list someone else left him. I tried several different suggestions and tipped to try to get a song I know how to dance to and he acted like he already played it when i had been there since they opened and didn't get even half a song I knew and he told me he already had I played it. If you're not from the area steer clear because dj doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't want to learn ant new songs. Came here for a themed engagement party. It turned out to be better than expected. They offered sliders, salad and wings at the beginning. I was too late for the sliders but the wings and salad were good with the ranch. We had drink tickets. Not sure if the drinks were strong or if I felt the alcohol because we were mixing drinks, but the bar staff was nice. The dance floor was a nice touch and having somone teach us the line dances through the evening was fun. Having the mechanical bull was great.
