8/4/25 Godzilla! w spicy crab meat. Tame but VERY good Inside avocado and crab nicely chilled. Not many do that. Love it when the avocado is nice and cold as a contrast Partner has orange blossom and we got edamame. Lot of good food but could use some more visitors. Update, Godzilla! Spicy enough to make my forehead sweat. Not so tame after all Safety note. The lighting really sucks and you should keep your eyes down towards the ground because you might just slip off the curb like I did and I ended up with a bruised hand and a bruised knee. Fortunately I work out so I have a lot of muscle in the palm and didn't break that area which apparently is easy to do. The shopping center needs to put safety tape or safety whatever at the curbside just to alert people at night
Second time in two months. Love this place. Tonight having the teriyaki tofu with soup, salad, and rice. Cubes of silky tofu on a bed of lettuce and shredded cabbage with vegetables. The vegetable tempura appetizer plate was perfect and lasted only a few minutes. Partner had the cherry blossom. Yummy! Great service. VERY clean restaurant. Tucked away in the corner of strip mall near the Round Table Pizza. Dining area in back big enough for a team lunch or dinner Nov 9 Cherry Blossom, Green Dragon Roll with heart healthy shrimp and avocado, vegetable...
Read moreWe get to the Bay Area about every two years, and as often as we can, we stop in at Ume Sushi. We just had an early dinner there tonight (late September, 2021) after a long day hiking on Mount Diablo, nearby. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and head sushi chef (I think they are the owners), offered our choice of tables, and quickly got our beverages (tea, water, and a plum wine). This was followed by a Super Rainbow Roll, a Samurai Roll, and a Tako (octopus) salad. The portions were very generous, the sushi was delicious (the rolls were served with a little pile of tabiko in addition to the wasabi and ginger). Yum!
We heard similar expressions of appreciation from the other diners (three or four other parties by the time we finished).
Both the hostess and the head sushi chef thanked us for coming, wished us a pleasant evening, and hoped to see us again soon.
What a great...
Read moreDo not recommend, go anywhere else and avoid this place if you can. Food and space are just straight up bad. Average score of 2/5
Food: 2/5 Ordered hot tea and the tea was basically just hot water, not brewed well, and the tea cups smelled like bleach. We all ordered bentos and all the meats were tough, dry, tasted odd. There were a few other rolls and they were decent.
Ambience: 1/5 Place smelled like sulfur or some kind of gas, ruined the entire experience. Tables and chairs were on the brink of breaking and some creak. It is well lit and the furniture isn’t badly arranged.
Service: 4/5 We were the only ones in the restaurant when we went at 7pm, with that said, staff were fast to get to us and checked in often.
Price: 1/5 Overpriced, a bento goes for $17-$22 and most rolls go for $17 on average. For all the other negatives, definitely not...
