Salty Food and Even Saltier Service
I’ve ordered takeout from this restaurant several times, hoping the experience would improve. Unfortunately, it only got worse. The food is consistently far too salty. I even had to throw away the Kung Pao chicken once. Despite that, I kept giving them chances, even asking them to go easy on the salt.
What finally pushed me to write this review was the unacceptable treatment I received during my most recent visit.
They never include basic items like paper plates, utensils, or napkins unless I ask. On this visit, I politely requested paper plates and spoons. The male waiter asked how many, and I said four. He started complaining that I’d only ordered food for two people and was asking for four plates. I told him it was for small kids who don’t eat much. Then he told me, “You’re always asking for things,” and said I shouldn’t come back. I was confused by what he meant by me always asking for things. Asking for utensils and napkins was asking for things? I was completely stunned by the comment not to return again. I reminded him I was a repeat customer, but he dismissed me, saying they have many customers and hadn’t noticed me.
I stood in shock as he walked away and spoke to a woman I believe is the manager or owner. She approached me, and instead of apologizing, she handed me two plates and coldly asked, “Anything else?” I tried to explain, but she repeated the same complaint. I even offered to pay for the plates, but she said she didn’t know the cost and walked away, again telling me not to return.
At that point, I told her I didn’t want the food anymore and asked for a refund which they processed.
It felt like there was more behind their reaction than just my request for paper plates. Maybe it was because I’m a Black woman? I don’t know. But being told not to return over something so minor made me feel singled out and unwelcome.
Restaurants should be places of hospitality and respect. This one failed on both fronts. I won’t be returning and they made it clear they don’t want me to. I hope others think twice before supporting a business that treats its...
Read moreDiscovering Golden Chopstick in Dublin, California, was a true culinary revelation. The absence of a noteworthy Chinese restaurant in Stockton led me to venture all the way to Dublin, and it defined an experience beyond expectations.
While it's undeniable that the prices lean towards the higher side, this is justified by the demographics of the location. Investing around a hundred bucks for four dishes might seem steep, but the portions are not only substantial but also incredibly delectable. The flavors are a testament to the care and skill invested in the culinary artistry.
What truly sets Golden Chopstick apart is not just the food but the outstanding service. Maggie, our gracious host, ensured every aspect of our dining experience was impeccable. The attention to detail in making sure the food arrived piping hot, delicious, and ready was a testament to the commitment to customer satisfaction.
Now, let's delve into the gastronomic journey itself. The Mongolian lamb was a symphony of flavors, each bite offering a delightful combination of tender meat and robust spices. The Lover's Promise lived up to its name, providing a divine experience that tantalized the taste buds. The salt pepper fish was an unbelievable culinary adventure, elevated further by the addition of a homemade chili sauce that allowed for a personalized spice level.
When I come across something that defies a conventional rating scale of 1 to 10, and ventures into the realm of extraordinary, Golden Chopstick undoubtedly falls into that category. This is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that deserves a permanent place in your phonebook, contacts, or even a business card for seamless and delightful orders. Prepare for a genuine surprise with each visit to this...
Read moreI was leaving work due to illness which happened to be down the street from this restaurant. I walked in to get something to eat but before that I needed to use the restroom. I asked the waiter where the bathroom is and he responded with “bathrooms are only for customers” and I said I’m thinking of getting something after but I need the restroom and it’s an emergency. He proceeded to humiliate me in front of another customer saying that I will make a mess in his bathroom and scolded me before telling where the bathroom was. If it wasn’t an emergency I would’ve walked out, but I just went anyway. While in the bathroom, the waiter started banging on my door and telling me to get out. I was beyond pissed at this point. Like how is that even legal? Then I walked out and told him that if wants to get customers he needs to learn how to behave with people. He then told me that his bathroom is only for customers and that he’s sure I made a mess (which is still insane to me). I then told him I was gonna buy something after but he told to me “stop bullshitting” (mind you this was all happening in front of the entire restaurant). I walked out and I’ve never been one to write reviews for places but this place made me mad beyond comparison. If you ever want to come to this place, i recommend looking elsewhere to eat. The customer service is horrible. If I could give negative stars I would. I ended up getting a sandwich somewhere else only because of the customer service in this place. If your not a customer they’ll treat you like your worthless and a bum....
