In my opinion, Absolutely unprofessional. Absolutely rude. My cousin went to this place, and with her allergies she treated this experience no differently than she does any other restaurant. She did her due diligence and listed off her allergies, like she always does. The person was rude, told her it wasn't her job to help order food safely. So when my cousin ordered a dish that contained nuts, one of her allergies she'd spoken before ordering mind you, instead of being told it had nuts, as the menu also does not disclose this information, how else is she to know? They let her order the dish, with no warnings of its allergen.
She wrote a Facebook review, and the manager's friend, went in and immediately bullying her, multiple people followed to bullying her. She has mental disabilities so her ability to articulate her review clearly is hard enough for her. Instead of inquiring what she meant, that manager sent his friends after her. On her review, on her personal page, and then went as far as posting it to his own page where they continued to laugh and mock her. I do have the screenshots of the manager praising one of the bullies.
In my opinion, anyone with allergies should take extra care ordering from this restaurant, don't expect them to disclose allergens in your dish. And if you seek hospitality and a good energetic experience, I advise going to one of our many great restaurants that are more than happy to be kind, and not harass or send friends to harass their customers.
Edit to respond, I don't see how you can fix this by her talking to Kevin, as it's Kevin that sent his friends to harass her for her review. Again, I have the screenshot of him praising one of them...
Read moreThis Chinese restaurant, which I accidentally discovered during my journey, definitely exceeded my expectations. Let me share my genuine impressions:
1、This long-established Chinese restaurant has been in business for 44 years and carries a great sense of Chinese culture throughout the entire establishment. Traditional elements such as lion dances, lanterns, theatrical costumes, and traditional prints create a rich ambiance. The tables even have introductions about the restaurant and information about the city. The bill is stamped with the owner Kevin's portrait, showing great attention to detail.
2、Kevin is extremely welcoming and not only introduces the dishes but also provides information about the city.
3、Having operated for 44 years, the menu covers a wide range of cuisines, including Cantonese, Sichuan, and American-style Chinese food. While some dishes have been adjusted and adapted to local American tastes, the overall flavor remains true to Chinese cuisine. The seasoning is well-balanced, and the chef's culinary skills are impressive. Every dish we ordered exceeded my expectations. It's hard to imagine such high-quality Chinese food in a city with such a small Chinese population.
4、Thanks to Kevin's introduction, I gained some knowledge about the city. After finishing our meal, my family and I took the opportunity to visit Old Town.
5、If you are traveling back to Salt Lake City from West Yellowstone Town, this restaurant is approximately a 2-2.5 hour drive away. It is a great option for a dining stop along the way, and you will have a wonderful experience. Additionally, the prices are very pleasing, offering excellent...
Read moreWe were a bit hesitant to come here, because the reviews were either, "This is the best Chinese ever" or, alternatively, "Kevin is a jerk. This place is the worst!"
Kevin was not a jerk. He was friendly and helpful. I could tell he's pretty Type A personality--very busy and energetic, so you might need to just jump in and not be shy to ask for clarification or whatever, because he whisks around and talks really fast! But that's OK! I asked a question about the menu, and he was happy to answer. And he was gracious when we were heading out the door.
The food was good. I've had better, but for the area this place was definitely worth coming back for. I wished there were more fresh vegetable options, but I can understand that would probably not be a big draw around here, so making that a permanent menu item might not make good business sense! Ha! Nothing had that overly salty flavor of so many Chinese places, which was nice. Maybe a bit too much sauce on the beef broccoli, but the Cantonese Chow Mein was yummy, with lots of bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, carrots, chicken, and peapods.
I liked the plate sizes. Not overwhelmingly huge, but enough to get your money's worth.
I'm taking off one star because once our food was at the table, we didn't see Kevin to flag him down until he brought the check, and I really could have used a water refill!
I loved the decor. The Easter Egg Dragon was awesome!
We will be back next time we're in Pocatello and hankering...
