We haven't been giving reviews during covid unless they are very good. 5 star only. We rarely post a 1 star. Everyone has bad days. A friend that owns a Restaurant locally posted early on during Covid that people shouldn't post bad reviews as everyone is trying to figure it out. I think a business that does take out for a living is different but I obliged since March! This is the one that finally did it last night. We have had multiple marginal experiences @this DQ since they opened and more importantly during Covid! We have been trying to spread the food/restaurant purchases among other local businesses during this time. Last night we decided to download the app since the kids love the blizzards. Let's get some points for them. Who knew it was going to be such a hassle...during the process I actually called the store 3 times to try and complete one order of 6 frozen items on the app. Couldn't use the $1 coupon unless we gave them our location. The girl that answered the phone wasn't very friendly multiple times. I was in this to win it. I'm like no way this is that hard to do? The items we chose which have been advertised across our TV for a week relentlessly weren't available for purchase on the app. So for multiple items we had to call the store.3 calls specifically. In the end we send our daughter down w/the purchase info, the order #, bar code to accrue the points etc. The girl @DQ advised us to come in to add the items unavailable so daughter goes in there and they tell her that I didn't complete the order and never finished it that's why they don't have it. Hmm because my American Express says I did. I'm an adult. In the end she needed to repay for it all and my daughter advised the cashier you need to know someone in management is going to need to call my Mom. She has the information that says otherwise and she is NOT paying for this twice. Daughter wanted to cancel and not get the order. I thought after all that work for her, just get it and we'll resolve it on the back end. They said the GM would be in on Wednesday and I would get a call then... Really? A friends family owns the Wendy's right next door and they've been wrapped around the store in droves since it opened! That tell us all something. It's not the size of the purchase, it's the manner in which it gets handled. I took the valuable time out of my "sales life" today that I'll never get back to have a candid Covid & Merchant Mentality conversation with the Corporate Office this morning. Being in sales for my entire life especially during Covid I stay in touch with my clients & remind them that "People will remember how you treated them during this pandemic, do your best". Needless to say, we will remember how we've been treated throughout this pandemic by every business we gave our hard earned dollars to. 1 person/dollar may not make a difference to a local CHAIN restaurant but that same dollar will make a huge difference to a local small...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited Dairy Queen in Tannersville today to take advantage of the coupon I received by email for buy one 1/3lb double cheeseburger, get one free, as well as the buy one "Bakes" item, get one free.
I handed over the coupon and told the cashier I wanted to take advantage of the deal. Immediately I was told "Oh, we don't take those here." No, the coupon specifically states to use it at any local Dairy Queen location. She then got all upset with me and stormed off to get help on inputting the coupon. Someone else came over and wasn't kind either, showed the girl how to put the coupon in the register. She still didn't know how to do it, called over another person who also told me she didn't know if they took those coupons, and "we don't have these in our system so we can't put them in." Somehow they got it working, I added a drink and large fry to the order and paid. My food was brought to the table and there was only one cheeseburger for the "Buy one GET ONE" deal. She told me I was wrong, that you buy something and get a free burger. Told her no, look at that coupon again and I want my free burger that I paid and used the coupon for. Opened up the one burger and it was smothered in mustard. I am highly allergic to mustard, this would have been very dangerous if I didn't see it on the wrapper and ate it. I gave it back to the employee and she looked at me like I was insane. The manager came over and told me it was all my fault because putting mustard on the burger was the "special DQ recipe" and I should have told them I didn't want mustard. Excuse me, I have NEVER been to any place that puts mustard on the burger without requesting it, and it did not say on the menu they put mustard on the burger. I have ordered a burger in the past that did not come with mustard. But now it's my fault? I explained this and the manager demanded I give her another $4.12 because the order was not rung in correctly and I didn't pay the full amount. The "large" fry I purchased was pitiful and the container was only half full. The fries were cold and soggy and just disgusting. They brought out more for me after a huge hassle but this container was only 1/4 of the way full and the fries were drenched in grease, so not much better than the first ones. After I ran into all these issues and they were extremely rude and condescending, and I had to pay even MORE money? At that point I expected something free at least, and I didn't even get an apology. If the manager was so extremely rude I never want to return to a Dairy Queen location and want to experience how the other employees here are trained.
I never did use the coupon for the BOGO Bakes item, I took my money elsewhere, to a local small business that deserved and actually appreciated my money, unlike Dairy Queen that would rather me be out of their face.
Wish I could leave zero stars, one star is giving too...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRUDE STAFF & BAD FOOD SAFETY PRACTICES!! On 4/22/24 at 430pm, I ordered a combo & a 2 for $5 with a cheeseburger and a large Coke. I had to correct the person taking the order twice. Once at the window, I paid and received a small fry instead of the drink. I looked at my receipt and saw the person rang me up for a fry instead of a Coke. I brought this to the attention of the staff member at the window who proceeded to snatch the receipt from me and talk to his coworker who was taking the orders. He came back to the window and asked me for the fry back. I would not take issue with this EXCEPT he placed the fries back under the heating lamp with other food. As a previous food service worker, I know that you really shouldn't take food back in the drive-thru window and if you do you would throw it away, not place it with other food for it to be served to someone else. The person at the window handed me my drink and couldn't even be bothered to offer an apology for the wrong order. Once home, my son realized his burger did not have bacon like he ordered. Honestly, I would've been just annoyed by the poor customer service, but it's due to the poor hygiene practices that I will not be returning to...
