The Morning Toast at Barley Creek We had a terrible experience from the moment we arrived at the restaurant for breakfast. The host at the receiving area seemed tipsy and ignored our greeting. We waited for 20 minutes before a waitress took our order. Only one table with two people was being served (around 10:15 am), and a different waiter in charge walked slowly (4x he walked by) and never checked if we had ordered. A waitress brought our coffee and drinks quickly, but we finished them in 40 minutes and still had not received our food. We decided to request our order to go since we had a booking to attend. However, when we got to the parking lot, we realized that no utensils were included, so I asked my son to go back and get them. They gave us one fork, two spoons (which we didn't need), and no napkins. To make matters worse, there was a maintenance guy parked in a handicapped spot, occupying three parking spaces. Reviews are good and we were expecting the same food experience.
The avocado toast had avocado spread (not avocado slices, as one would expect). When we complained our server brought out more avocado spread in a dish and charge us extra $2.50.
I ordered regular stack pancakes. They were half-cooked in the middle and the mixed berries were thin sliced frozen berries mixed in with the dough. Not worth the extra $2 we had to pay for. A small bottle of maple syrup is extra $2.50.
My wife ordered a 3 flavor of the Mimosa sampler. I feel $4/small glass is too pricey. The drinks selection on the menu does not say how much they are.
The service is great with amazing staff. Not so for the food quality.
Ambience outside is picturesque with light snow on the ground.
It makes me very sad to share less...
Read moreThe menu provided plenty of fun, creative options that made the family very happy. The staff were friendly and attentive. Food: I recommend the bananas foster french toast. My wife enjoyed the avacado toast w/poached eggs. My daughters both got bacon which was a bit overdone for their taste. But the blueberry cream pancakes and scrambled eggs made them pretty happy. Oh! The coffee! The coffee was great! Definitely get some. And the the fresh squeezed orange juice is worth it. Will definitely make it a point to eat here again when in the area. Edit: I originally gave 4 stars, but after some consideration, I am bumping it up to 5. The food/service was just too good to warrant a -1 penalty for...
