See my review for "Tony's on the Mountain", the pizza place next to Zack's (it's not called "Tony's" anymore). I had similar problems over there. I don't like leaving negative reviews for local businesses, but there's no excuse for lousy treatment. I don't consider that to be "local flavor".
First of all, like "Tony's": cash only. Fine, OK, not the end of the world by itself. But here's what else happened:
Zach's has a weird "system": you enter through one door, place your order, and then exit, go outside, and walk around to another door on the opposite side, where you (are supposed to) get your food. It's awkward and nonstandard.
I found myself waiting for a long time. A very long time. A bunch of other people were waiting, too. Across the way, in the "pickup zone", there were also people waiting. It started to feel like a bizarre psychology experiment, because there was no one at either window. I could hear someone answering calls out of sight.
A woman would appear and disappear from inside the food prep area every so often. She never made eye contact or spoke with anyone. This was for about 20 minutes? It might have been shorter, but it felt like that. Finally, I rang the "ring bell for service bell" (psychology experiment!), and a voice said "I'll be right with you," which wasn't true.
A good while later the mysterious person on the phone appeared, and the woman ahead of me gave her order. But the person who took it disappeared immediately afterwards. That's when I gave up and left, taking my Quest for a Burrito elsewhere.
Maybe they were short staffed? That's fine – I don't think that was the case, but if so, at least acknowledge it and thank your customers for waiting. Have a sign or something! "Short staffed today, thanks for being patient!" No sign, no nothin'. Just an overall attitude of "our time is more important than yours".
As with Tony's, I think this place serves mainly tourists, so they don't really care about their customers the way a community restaurant would.
My wife ordered earlier and didn't have the problems I did, so I did get to try the food. Quality was strictly average. Exactly like you'd get from a McFranchise burrito place, no better, no worse. My advice: go to main commercial strip, it's not far away. You can get the exact same thing without the risk of unwanted...
Read moreAlright, listen up, taco enthusiasts! 🌮 Just had a feast at Jackson Tacos, and let me tell ya, it's like a flavor explosion in your mouth that'll make your taste buds do a happy dance!
First off, let's talk about that Pumpkin Carolina Reaper sauce. Whew, it's a spicy symphony with a hint of sweetness that's like a flavor rollercoaster hitting all the right notes. One dip, and I was hooked – it's like the secret weapon of taco goodness.
Now, onto the braised pork taco. Juicy, succulent, and seasoned to perfection. Each bite is a journey through pork paradise, and the aroma alone is enough to make your senses do a little cha-cha.
But hold on, the chicken taco is no slouch either. Juicy is an understatement – it's like biting into a flavor bomb of tender chicken bliss. The seasoning, oh man, it's like a party in your mouth that you never want to end.
And let's not forget the crispy empanadas with cheese and potatoes. Imagine a golden, crunchy exterior that gives way to a cheesy, potatoey heaven inside. It's like the perfect marriage of textures – crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside. Pure bliss, my friends!
I'm not exaggerating when I say everything here might just be amazing. From the tantalizing smells that hit you the moment you walk in to the explosion of flavors with every bite, Jackson Tacos has officially become my go-to taco haven. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out on a taco experience that's nothing short of extraordinary. 🌮🔥 #TacoHeaven #FlavorExplosion...
Read moreThis is a MUST stop if you haven’t tried zack’s yet. My husband and I have had many drives up to this area but would alter our route and drive extra just to stop at zack’s.
It is like no tacos we have ever had. The flavors are wild and perfect and like no other. You can’t go wrong in what ever protein you choose. We also love the vegetarian one! The Nachos- wow. The chips - get the large and you will thank yourselves later. Empanadas!!!!!!!!! There’s often specials.
My husbands 30th was catered by zacks and the customer service from Zacks wife, Amanda, was impeccable. She carefully was on the phone with me to make sure we checked all boxes for the event and was honest if I was about to order way too much for that amount of people haha. All the trays were delivered right to my car.
We know the owners very well. It is owned by a small adorable family who gives back and does a lot for the community. The creator of the menu, is classically trained and obviously added his own bold flare to various Mexican dishes.
They make everything fresh… (the ingredients are exquisite and perfect)… this is not a fast food joint- I would recommend calling ahead if your in a time crunch. Basically, be willing to wait a few more minutes for amazingness. It’s a small kitchen with a whole lotta love and talent… just plan accordingly and be patient.
We love Zack’s and we can’t to see what they do next. We are lifers. Will continue to...
