Phenomenal experience! Came all the way from Florida just to try this place! ... I wish! (Came for a family membe's wedding!) ... However, we're super glad we found it during our trip here! We ate some of the best pizza we've ever had -- and if you know us and have seen my other reviews, we're seasoned world travelers hailing from Florida, Colorado, Germany, and even South Korea during our many travels! We've tried food from all over the world, so to find some truly innovative experiences (yes, I went there - pun to the shop name!) ... is an incredibly enjoyable experience!
We tried about 6 different flavors - including a pastrami (complete with pickles and mustard ... yes, on pizza!) and a "create your own" with nearly all the meats and a smattering of green stuff that the wee one actually asked for on his plate! (Props!) Also tried this week's special - an awesome Avocado BLT on freshly baked Ciabatta (drool!), a "Rustic" and a Caesar salad, some buffalo and BBQ wings, aaaaaaaand I think that's it! Yeah, there were a TON of us there so we figured it's time to go big or go home! Haha! Even with all of that, it was only around $140 bucks and everyone left SUPER satisfied with leftovers to spare!
Oh yeah, the beers! 🍺 Haha! So I ordered a flight (just a few oz each) of four different styles, all fantastic: (1) A Belgian style witbier made with orange zest from the oranges grown right here on the Cal Poly Pomona Campus (how awesome is that?!), (2) a fruited kettle sour (try one sometime if you never have -- it's quite the experience!), (3) a refreshing saison, and lastly my favorite of the four -- (4) Bronco Brown. This last beer wasn't on their online menu since taps probably rotate out here as fast as you can imagine at an on-campus brewery (!!), so it was quite a pleasant surprise. Bronco Brown is an amazingly smooth brown ale with just the right amount of delightful notes of peanut butter without tasting like you just took a bite of a PB&J. Another fantastic experience I'd get by itself in a pint glass if they still have it next time I visit!
Lastly, I shared a Pint of their "Storey's Stout" with some vanilla ice cream and made "Real Beer Floats" for the fam. Yes, real beer, as in the actual leaded stuff, not root beer. If you liked root beer floats as a kid and love dark beers, try the adult version with your favorite stout or porter! This Storey's Stout was fabulous in its own right - another one that I'd gladly enjoy a pint of on another visit! But then if you mix it with some vanilla ice cream, you've now transcended to "Beer-vana!" Haha!
Well, thanks for sticking around for the read! Do yourself a favor and visit this place next time you're in...
Read moreThis is a great concept but service is really bad. If you are planning to train the new workforce as college students and being in service industry, if you can't offer proper service what's the point? If the customer is coming for the 4th time in the same night. You asked for the ID for the first time, NO ID for Second & third time and for our last round you asked for the ID. It didn't make any sense and specially when the conversation is between customer and the server, their manager jumps in and says I can cut you guys off(we were total 5, all professionals doctors and engineers) that just shows that person had very rude attitude. There is a nicer way of saying that without raising the voice. Anyhow it felt very insulting to us and we closed the tab and left.
As I said I really like the concept, hopefully they change their service attitude. I will give it a shot one more time in near future.
Easiest way to solve this is if you want to check ID all the time, why can't you issue a hand band for the first time so you don't have to show your ID each time you...
Read moreI visited this place a few years ago and it was terrible. The food was good, but the beer was rubbish came back today to meet a colleague for a chat call Matt and got a flight of interesting sounding beers. Not expecting very much, I sipped, and was very, very pleasantly surprised. I got the Dr Ortiz Orange "witbeer" (actually a weisse), The Magic School Bus sour ale, the Brethren Belgian pale strong ale, and the Storey's American "Stout", every one of which I would rate as good to excellent. I was a little disappointed by the Stout at first, because it isn't actually a stout. It's a porter at best, but once I told myself that it is a mild ale, I really started to enjoy it, so I have absolutely no grounds to complain about any aspect of my beer experience here. In fact, Innovation Brew Works is going on my list of good beer places, because it's not often that I like absolutely everything in a particular flight. Well done,...
