BrewFish Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Pompano Beach

The place wasn’t very busy, maybe 8-10 full tables, yet we were told by the hostess that the server would take at least 10 minutes to get to us being busy. Ok, I was thinking she might’ve been the only server. Nope, we saw 3 servers working. Weird but no biggie. When she did get to our table, hubby ordered a draft beer. 10 minutes or so later, she comes back and says they’re out. So he orders another beer, same deal - when she finally gets back to us, they don’t have that one either or anything much on draft that night. Some excuse about them being out of almost everything including Guiness in a can. So she tells him what they do have, two craft beers not on the menu, so he finally gets one of those. They are a brewpub so it’s odd they didn’t really have any brew lol. That’s why we went to check them out. Anyway, we go ahead and order food. I asked for tartar sauce twice when we ordered just to make sure she wrote it down. Well the food comes and no tartar sauce. I know mistakes happen and would’ve been ok if she would have ever came back to check on us to make sure our orders were right. She wasn’t the one who brought our food. After waiting a bit and not seeing her anywhere, I went and asked the hostess. She did bring me something-not tartar sauce, but italian dressing (!). I gave up and just ate my so-so fish and dealt with it. Our server never checked on us at all until we were finished eating nor did we ever see her anywhere. No refills or anything. Again, 3 servers and maybe 10 tables. That is not too busy for such poor service. So we tipped her around 10%, which I think is overly generous since she did nothing but take our order and bring one drink each, and we gave the other 5% tip to the singer performing. He was good. We will not...

I was torn between a 3 and 4 star, but decided 4 based on service and atmosphere.

TLDR: Great service and beautiful outdoor patio space on the water. Various food quality and taste is inconsistent. Menu specials incorrectly priced or 'no longer offered'

Great location, right on the water, with a welcoming ambiance. Our server was fantastic, quick service and kind. Saw her and others deal with some nightmare customers and they handled them with elegance. Server told us multiple times about the specialty menu being wrong, said most items are $5+ more than what they show on menu, and other specials printed no longer offered. Appreciate the server telling us ahead of time but would be nice for venue to have accurate menus.

The food was inconsistent between some items being amazing while other items were lackluster.

Bimini Bread: was a marvelous blend between a pastry and a loaf of bread, flakey, glazed and warm, absolutely recommend.

Mozzarella sticks: though we were surprised there were so many on the plate (I think 10 sticks?), most of the sticks had no cheese and were completely hollow (not exaggerating). Perhaps the cheese escaped during cooking, but felt like a waste of money.

Half Caesar Salad: large portion, crunchy fresh lettuce and all around pretty good.

Shrimp Poboy: Blackened perfect to request, good portion, seasoned well and the accompanied sweet potato fries (which are really sweet potato wedges) were fantastic.

Shrimp Scampi: Good portion but lacked seasoning and flavor. Appears to be cooked in unseasoned butter with sprinkling of herbs. Unfortunately very bland, but good portion of shrimp added made up the difference.

All in all, we will return to try...

Worst service ever. Skip this place. This was our third time here. First time we were given the wrong dishes and our burgers were cooked wrong but we had already eaten too much to swap them. The second time we sat at the bar for a long while without being acknowledged and we left nobody noticed. It’s like only the “regulars” get service or attention here. How do you get to be a regular? The third time (which was last night) we called ahead for pick up. Upon arrival we spoke with a worker folding napkins in the bar area. He muttered something about forgetting something and walked off into the kitchen. When he retire said after he took our phone order he forgot to put it in and that it sat for 5 minutes so we would need to wait another 10-15 minutes he offered a bar beverage which we declined. We did let him know we would be sitting out at the tables along the canal so he would find us once the food was ready. Well after 20 minutes we went to check on the 10-15 minutes wait and learned it was sitting on the bar! Nobody told us and when we stood there we got the attention of a waitress who found the food. The man had disappeared. We walked the super short distance home and ate our dinner which was only warm ( the potatoes were cold) it all should have been a lot warmer but since it sat out on the bar for who knows how long it wasn’t. Good customer service is not found here. Don’t waste your time or money at this place. Save it for a place that you receive value for it. You won’t find it here... third time was not the charm just...
