There is nothing worse than bad food than bad unfriendly service. My husband and I went to La Guarina while on vacation. Started off with the heavy set lady at the register. She was unwelcoming with a stone face. When we finally got our breakfast, the eggs were overcooked and dry.The coffee was bitter and cold along with the oatmeal. The worse was the female server behind the counter with the oversize black glasses. Talking about unfriendly service without a smile. She will place your order on the counter shout your name, then walk away without asking if you needed anything else. I stood there trying to get her attention for the sugar she forgot to hand me. She knew I was standing there but she chose to ignore. When I taste the oatmeal it was cold. I politely asked he if they can warm it up. The young girl at the bakery counter spoke English but very sweetly allowed me to complete my order in Spanish, getting the practice I so desperately need to learn the language. I woke up this morning wishing I had ordered an extra (or 10) to bring home with me (I don't live in Ponce). I'm in my 50's so the walk from La Católica to the bakery in the Ponce heat nearly killed me, but I would do it again for another Guarinaso -- but I think I'll drive next time, jaja. Great food and service. If you are going to be in the area, don't miss out...

I had the chicharron de pollo, and I thought it was pretty good. They give you a lot of chicken, and the taste is good enough to satisfy a craving.
It's one of the few places open late after so if you want some fried chicken, they'll do just fine.
Good sandwiches too. Even their "bocadillos" are big here.
Normal service. 15-20 minute wait.
Overall, a good place to eat if you're looking for food late. And generally a good bakery. Their sandwiches are pretty good too. Big as hell.
Be warned though, the garlic bread is not worth...
