Vistas — Restaurant in Ponce

Made a reservation for outside seating at dusk (though reservations aren't necessary) and saw a beautiful sunset in the backdrop of the Ponce Cathedral. The servers were excellent, as was the food ("trifongo tricarne" and "pechuga rellena"). Specials came with soup or salad as appetizers. I really have no complaints except that I had to leave early, just as live music was arriving. Perfect place for a date, though it is not cheap. This place has beautiful views of the city, attentive service (if not fully on point for a place billing itself as fine dining) and nice decor. But the food is at best mediocre trending towards bad. We found a hair in a pastelillo, platanutres were stale, papas salteadas were an old soggy old mess that couldn’t cut it even as leftovers, tostones tasted like premise frozen, and salad was wilted. Clean and elegant atmosphere, creative dishes, and superb service. This was our first time at Vistas. We stopped by on our way to the west from San Juan. The service was outstanding and diligent. We ordered the soup and the croquets as appetizers. They were solid dishes. For entrees, we ordered the Mahi Mahi and the specialty Salmon. Flavor was good but the fish were a bit overcooked. Prices reflected the cost of the dish. What is exceptional is the view from the terrace. We were there at sunset times. It is worth the visit...
