Treated very poorly based on appearance. Today my wife, 6 year old daughter, and I went to this Ruth Chris for lunch after a long day of having our countertops replaced. Because work was being done around the house we were dressed comfy. Around 4pm I decided to take my family to eat and thought a good steak sounded good. We drove to Ruth Chris where the hostess greeted us pleasantly and sat us at our table. Our waitress came to our table and took our drinks, and when she returned she had asked me to take off my hat as it was their dress code. It didn’t bother me as I understood and I did so. Right after that she went to another table where 2 women were seated and one was wearing a bright neon red trucker hat. The waitress took their order and and walked away and we noticed she was still wearing her hat. When the waitress came back with our drinks we had nicely asked her why I was required to take off my hat but not her. She said she didn’t notice she was wearing a hat (Again it was bright neon red, it’s hard to miss) and looked and responded annoyingly towards us and said she would ask her to remove hers as well. We didn’t ask her to do that, we just wanted to know why she was allowed to wear hers and I was not. She then proceeds to explain that all other Ruth Chris’s have strict dress codes of no baseball caps, and that you wouldn’t be able to wear sweatshirts or sweats in the other restaurants ( a clear dig at us) and that they only enforce the “hat” rule. She was speaking to us in a tone as if we should be honored that they even allowed us to sit down because my wife who was in comfortable athletic wear and me in a sweatshirt was beneath them. Offensive rude remarks from our waitress aside we were excited to eat. Once the steaks arrived we had asked to be cooked at medium rare were presented to us medium well done. There was no redness in the center what so ever. Me annoyed just wanting to eat didn’t say anything but my wife did. The waitress said that it only looked that way because of the tint in their windows was making it look that way, as if we were stupid and unsure of how a medium rare steak is supposed to be cooked. She then got her manager who came to inspect the steak and agreed it was way over cooked and went back to replace my wife’s steak. The second steak was cooked correctly. When it came time for the check the waitress came out and handed us 2 dessert menus and said that the restaurant was providing desserts on the house for the steak mess up. My wife and I didn’t intend on getting dessert and even asked if we could just get it to go. Once we both chose what desert we wanted the waitress said, “which one do you want to be the free one? You know what we’ll make the more expensive one the free one.” My wife and I looked confused and asked if we were paying for one of the deserts since she offered them for free. She told us only 1 would be free. Why hand us both menus and tell us deserts (plural) is on the house when we didn’t even ask for it, and then try and charge us for one? We told her to just bring the one slice of cake out in a to go box as we didn’t want desert in the first place. I’ve honestly never been treated so badly at a restaurant before in my life. Paid $250 dollars for a horrible experience and a...
Read more*Update: I would definitely never eat this location every again. Drove all the way from Tallahassee to eat at the Ruth Chris in Jacksonville only for that location to be fulled. So me and my bf drove an additional 30 minutes to this location. The manager Christine or whoever the lady was that contacted me made me feel as though I was lying about my experience because she could not find my order of what me and my bf ordered. I have no reason to make up a false review about this place. There’s much better things I could of been doing. How is it so hard to find me and boyfriend order history if I told verbatim the items that we ordered and where we sit. I’m pretty sure Ruth Chris has cameras to check to see if I’m telling the truth. But no it’s still we can’t find your order for the things you purchased. I could of use that $200+ which included the horrible server tip on much better things.
Let me start by saying my experience at this Ruth Chris was horrible. I noticed how our waiter showed favoritism towards people of Caucasian. He checked on the table next to me at least 7 times compared to the table I was seated at the most 4 times. Didn’t ask if we wanted more bread or etc but asked the same table of Caucasian ladies if they wanted bread and such. His tone with them was much more happier then compared to my table. He missed out on a great tip by his actions. Also the food was the worst I have ever had at a Ruth Chris. The stuffed chicken was very dry, the lobster mac was very very dry and the sweet potato casserole was dry as well and tasted under cooked. The only thing was good was the seafood tower and my bf chillian sea bass. I wouldn’t feed my dog or my worst enemy any food from this Ruth Chris. Oh and the waiter tried to overcharged us for 2 seafood towers when we only...
Read moreI have been to Ruth's Chris three times. Usually, everything is fantastic. Unfortunately, on my last trip, it was an extremely disappointing experience. After ordering the Cowboy Ribeye medium-rare, it comes out and it is medium-well, if not well done. I mean, very little pink in the very center of a large steak. My girlfriends filet mignon (also ordered medium-rare) came out just as overcooked. The waiter took it back and put in a new steak right away. I am already uncomfortable because I am the kind of person who hates sending stuff back, but when you are going to a steak house and buying a 65 dollar steak, it would be nice to have it the way you want it. After my second steak comes out, it is rare. Very rare. I was told by the manager that I could cut it up and cook it on my plate. A 22 oz steak. I cut about half of it up and I was just very discouraged with the fact that they expected me to finish cooking the steak on my plate. My waiter said nothing, but another waiter saw that I was unhappy with the steak and had it sent back. I told them I did not want another steak, because at this point I am beyond uncomfortable. They didn't charge for the steak and boxed it up and let me take it home. I have been to Ruth's Chris three times, and I was just shocked at my most recent experience. I can understand getting a steak that is overcooked at Chilis, but when you are at a legitimate steak house, I feel as though it is unacceptable. I can say that I won't be referring people to this location for a while. I am hoping it was new kitchen staff and they will fix this issue, but I will not be going back to find out. Everything else was very good, but the dinner was ruined by an inability to cook a...
