I rarely find myself in this part of town, but fate (and a rumbling stomach) led me to Lupita's while I was waiting for someone. A quick Google search pointed me in their direction, and let me tell you, it was a culinary revelation. For a mere $17, I indulged in a trio of delights: street tacos, birria, and a gordita. Let's start with the street tacos – picture tender, juicy meat nestled in warm, pillowy tortillas, each bite bursting with authentic flavor. Then came the birria, a rich, savory stew of slow-cooked meat, so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The consommé, oh, the consommé! Rich and flavorful, perfect for dipping the tacos. And finally, the gordita – a thick, masa pocket filled with savory goodness, the perfect balance of textures and tastes. The flavors were so vibrant, so fresh, so perfectly seasoned. Honestly, this is hands-down the best taco experience I've had. I live an hour away, but I'm already planning my return trip. The drive will be worth every single mile.

Update: Huge thank you to Humberto and his family for accommodating us with a large order last minute to bring up north camping. We had Birria tacos on a remote island and it was one of the happiest experiences ever. I've worked in Pontiac for over 13 years and have tried every place around here. This is the one, this is the diamond in the rough. Have never been disappointed and great people are running it who deserve the best. Start with the birria, you will not be disappointed. Update: Since the initial review have traveled to numerous states trying Birria etc and after all these years there is no comparison, Lupitas is by far the best and always consistently far exceeds expectations.

Some of the best Mexican food we have ever eaten! We noticed this place on google maps while searching for Mexican food, the high reviews drew us to it. At first the place seemed really unassuming, tucked in a liquor store and hard to spot, but if experience has taught me anything, these are typically the best places to go. Very friendly staff, we ordered the birra tacos as well as the carnitas tacos, along with the Mexican corn and salsa and chips. The food was outstanding! Can’t express how great everything was and very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. This will absolutely be a repeat location next year when we visit again. 100% recommend this place!

This place fulfilled my heart's desire for authentic Mexican food specifically Birria tacos. I am in loooove with this place. It is a tiny little hole in the wall tucked away inside a bodega you would never know it was there. To me that fits the requirements for some of the best places. My husband went to pick it up and the people were kind and friendly and helped him figure out what we might be interested in... I got a birria taco combo plate and we got a Birria Pizza which is like a giant birria quesadilla. It was seriously the most delicious food that ive had in forever, it hit the spot. I am from California and can rarely find good Mexican food out here that is authentic. Tacos were amazing, beans were delicious, rice was perfect, i could have drank the consume by itself(okay i did)... the salsas were wonderful, the pizza was mind blowing. I will be going back again and again and again. I don't even want to make this review because you might go there and then like it so much that it might get too busy and then when I really want food they'll be too many people there. But but if you want I guess you can go ill...
