My husband and I went in for a late dinner. Initially we were sat in the main bar area and it was noisy but that isnt unexpected. We had a wait before anyone came to get our drink orders (10-15min after seated). When we did order drinks, the guy brought us 2 different menus than what we were given when sat and told us we had the wrong ones as apparently we had to order off the "late night" menu. This was frustrating as the items we wanted were not on the new menu. Meanwhile, we watched a guy who came in at the same time already get his food before we even ordered and he ordered the same thing we had planned to order but were being told we couldn't. We stopped a waitress who was in the M-Club area and asked about the menu issue. She offered to bring us into the M-Club (we are club members as well but initially we're not offered the M-club seating. Our new server Mariette (sp?) Was a. Absolute DOLL! She was the sweetest lady, very communicative and went above and beyond. She spoke with the chef and confirmed we were okay to order our original meals and made sure we were happy for the rest of the night. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and delicious!
Our experience started off really rough and we were upset. However, it was turned completely around by this lovely lady. Even when she was going to help serve drinks at the bar, she let us know she was headed out front to help catch them up and would be back in a few to check on us. My one star is now a 5 star because...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Woodward's, located at the main level of the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac, and I must say the salmon dish I had for dinner was a delightful experience!
The salmon was cooked beautifully, with a perfectly caramelized exterior and a moist, flaky interior. The seasoning struck a nice balance, enhancing the natural flavors of the fish without overpowering them. The accompanying quinoa added a hearty, nutty texture, pairing well with the salmon for a balanced and nutritious meal.
The asparagus was another highlight, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunch. Its fresh, earthy flavor complemented the dish, making it feel wholesome and satisfying. The presentation was elegant yet simple, befitting the warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant.
The only reason I’m giving this dish 4 stars instead of 5 is that the overall flavor profile could have been elevated with a touch more boldness—perhaps a hint of citrus or an additional layer of sauce to add some zest.
That said, it was a fantastic meal, and I would absolutely recommend Woodward's for anyone staying at the Marriott or in the Auburn Hills area. I’ll definitely be back to explore more...
Read moreI would give this spot a 2.5 star. The place is new renovated fancy etc.
I did not try the drinks so cannot comment on this. My poor review is due to the lack luster quality of service and quality of food at this place.
I ordered a Mexican Chicken Salad - the chicken was dry and cold. It seemed old. Almost like rotisserie style and left over chicken used here.
When I brought this to the attention of my server she said sorry and that's it. No follow up. No real aptitude to capture feedback or make things right.
Highly disappointing for a Hotel brand of such stature.
Here's the issue - this is the only semi fancy spot in a few miles radius - tired business travelers such as me, who get back to hotel late work - want to just grab something at the hotel and go to bed.
And after a long day's work - such poor quality of food and service cannot be pardoned.
My buddies got burgers and were not impressed either.
Marriott - you...
