Miss K's Kitchen — Restaurant in Port Aransas

I read about this place in the Port Aransas Visitor's Guide but I kept forgetting it was only open on weekdays. I went today (Wednesday) for lunch with my husband. You order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. There were many enticing options and several ways to have them. For example, I got the Chutney Chicken Salad served on lettuce but I could have also had it as a wrap or as a sandwich. My husband got a turkey & cheese wrap and it was good too. The place was pretty full and so it was loud in there but otherwise we enjoyed it. There is local art on the walls which is nice. All of the employees that we spoke with were very kind and helpful. You buss your own table when you're finished. It's not a totally polished place but the food was delicious. One other thing, I saw a few people preferring to go or picking up orders. That's a great idea if you want to be in and out quickly. One more thing: they make casseroles that you can pick up and cook at home. I visited Port A for my wife's birthday. We heard very good things about Miss K's cakes. I called and ordered a strawberry cake for the big celebration. I was told the cake would be ready the next day at 2 p.m. I arrived at 1:50 p.m. to pick up the cake. The shop was closed. The "open" sign was off and the lights were also all off. I found it very odd since I had called the day before and was promised a cake by 2 p.m. the next day (the day I was there). I called multiple times and no one answered. I waited until 2:30 p.m. and the shop never opened. I never got my cake. I never got a call either. If you are not going to have a promised caked ready, at least have the decency to call and let your customers know. You had my number. I had to find a cake last minute. I drove to Corpus Christi and found Janet's Cakes. They came through for me in a pinch. Buy from Janet. Avoid Miss K. She may not deliver...

Consistent High Quality. Miss K's is the caterer we chose again this year for a family dinner at the beach house. A night to give all the moms and dads of the little ones a night off from shopping, cooking, serving, waiting on folks and then cleaning up. Miss K and Chow (hope I'm spelling that right!) came again this year and this time we needed a vegetarian option. Yum. Mushroom ravioli. Everyone wanted the same menu as last year as it was so delicious. The children had their own menu as did the adults. Gracious service. Quiet cleaning as we dined.
