Hadn't been to a Casa Ole for a few years, but we took our group of 7 to the location in central mall. We were seated immediately and the waitress was fairly attentive. She kept most of our drinks filled, but forgot to refill waters. I couldn't help but notice that she took all 7 of our orders without writing anything down. I don't know if she forgot or if the chef did, but they served several of my friends food they were allergic to, over simply not taking or getting the order correctly. They did so much right, but serving food that the customer has said they are allergic to is a big problem.
Thankfully, everyone involved was able to find relief before they reacted too badly, but I am not sure if I will risk it again for my own allergies.
I advise that you take extra care to check your food if you need to special order from this location for...
Read moreI have to give Casa Ole at central mall 5 stars!! 10/10 it was excellent. The restaurant was extremely clean, well lit and decorated so nicely for the holidays. The staff was friendly and professional. The FOOD was so GREAT! The chips were light, fresh and crispy, not greasy at all. Our enchilada plate was freshly made and full of fillings, not flat and empty like some locations. The lettuce on our bean chalupas was fresh and crispy, not soggy. The rice was moist and fluffy. Everything we tried was noticeably better than we are used to eating. I grew up eating at central mall location but now live in orange where the casa ole here is very dirty, dark, run down and smelly like old beer when you walk in. The food is average. It was a nice change to visit port arthur casa ole and we will be making the drive to eat there when we get our casa ole...
Read moreDinner service was fine and the restaurant itself seemed clean and met expectations. The food was the issue. The salsa left a residue on the tongue. The queso was bland. The tortilla soup was immensely salty. The bean soup was not spiced well and simply tasted like beans. The chimichanga was one I could've purchased at a grocery store by way of size and texture (barely fried outside, terribly dry inside), although it was flavorful. The ranchero sauce was just canned tomatoes dumped on top of the chimichanga. The chimichanga meal was also missing the pico de gallo. The steak and cheese quesadilla was either greasy or had been sat in its own steam/perspiration too long at the pass that upon service it literally dripped from the underside and the bottom was soggy when picked up. The rice and beans were bland and flavorless sides. I probably...
