Avenue Axe Sports Bar — Restaurant in Port Neches

It was my first time at this place. Didn't disappoint me at all. First off, if you're looking for a full service bar, you should not come here. All they serve is bottled beer and canned seltzer and water. No mixed drinks! I guess if you are into playing, you should not have enough time to be enjoying cocktails or at least for my experience. They have "coaches" showing you how to throw axes if you're inexperienced. The guys will even stand around and point out how you could improve. We decided to have my son's 13th birthday party at Avenue Axe, and I am glad we did. We chose to have the party after hours (which was at noon before they open to the public) for an additional $50. This was worth it because we had the whole place to ourselves. Not only did the kids have a great time throwing axes but the parents enjoyed themselves too. The staff was helpful and friendly and patiently taught the kids how to throw. Throwing axe's is like a giant game of darts only with hatchets. It was a lot of fun for all ages. This is a newer bar in the downtown Port Neches area that was previously just a beer bar and axe throwing. I imagine the axe throwing action got old pretty quick. Assuming it's under new management, they've expanded and it's a full on bar now. This could easily be 5 stars, but my message to management would be, get 21+ bartenders. How do you have 18, 19 year olds trying to make cocktails that they've never had before? Granted, this cat made a decent gimlet, but he went in completely blind. Inhad to share the recipe with him.
