Neches River Wheelhouse — Restaurant in Port Neches

Will never go back to this place ever again! We had a party of 23 so we had brought them a lot of money to their establishment! One of the waitresses was very rude to one of our parents! She asked a simple question and the girl turned her back to her, ignored her and walked off. Our Parent walked up to her and said hey I was still talking to you! Thank you for turning your back on me and ignoring me! The waitress looked her straight in the face and said you’re welcome smiled and walked off! So unprofessional and rude! So our parent decided to complain to the manager. They were two young girls who have no business being managers. Very immature and did not know how to even handle the situation! Everything they said sounded like We were talking to 10-year-olds! They walked off and all was good. We dropped the situation! I want to add that Zack our waiter was aw! We paid for our meal and before we left on our way out we decided to stop at the front bar after we had left our table mind you and the two young managers ran to where we were and told our parent that did complain that she was cut off! That she was no longer allowed to buy a beer! When she asked why the manager told her we don’t have to give you a reason why ! We all know the reason why was because she had made a complaint about her friend and was doing this out of spite! she cut her off and told her she couldn’t have a drink. Which would have made her only have two drinks the whole time we were there! When she confronted them about this they were rude and disrespectful and said that we all had to leave! Then proceeded to call the police on us! What’s funny is the police officers couldn’t believe they were called there for something so minor! This place is so unprofessional having these young kids managing! You should have older and more mature adults that know what they’re doing in a business setting! We were so excited to go to this place and this happened now we feel so upset we spent so much money and we’re treated so poorly! We will never go back and I don’t suggest anyone else try this place! So disappointed in all of this happened in front of our kids!...

What a beautiful restaurant and location. They are located right on the Neches River. A location where everyone can get together and have a awesome day in the restaurant and on the water. They have a top notch crew of servers with spectacular customer service and cooks that will tantalize your taste buds.

Appetizers -

Seafood Nachos. 7/10 Shrimp & crawfish piled high on fresh tortilla chips smothered with our famous house-made queso and Pepper Jack cheese. Served with a side of pico de gallo. Substitute the shrimp & crawfish with chicken. Kick your nachos up a notch with lump crab! Small - $10 (Crab - +4) Large - $18 (Crab - +8) Nothing complicated here, just some good nachos that are a bit different from the others.

Entrees-

Shrimp & Grits. 6/10 Homemade Gouda Polenta Grit Cakes topped with Jumbo Gulf Shrimp sauteed with garlic, shallots, and tomatoes in a spicy lemon butter sauce $18 Overall the the dish works, it's not the best shrimp and grits but it is pretty decent. The grits lacked that Gouda flavor and need to be a bit creamier. The shrimp needs a bit more pop to them as well. The sauce was good but needed the same as the rest, a bit more flavor.

Wheelhouse Tuna. 7/10 Peppercorn-crusted Ahi tuna grilled rare. Served with herb rice & sauteed vegetable medley. $27 The tuna is cooked to your liking so that is a plus. The tuna is the star as the sides are just rice and steamed veggies. The glaze on the tuna was nice.

The Codfather. 7/10 Golden brown fried or grilled cod filets, American cheese & tartar sauce on a toasted bun. Served with fries. $14 This is a decent sized fish sandwich that was cooked perfectly. If you are in the mood for a good fish sandwich then this one is for you.

The Jolly Roger Our signature po'boy loaded with smoked turkey, black forest ham, Cajun roast beef, Swiss, smoked Gouda & Gruyere cheeses, lettuce, brown gravy & jalapeño mayo. Served with fries or onion rings $13 This is a killer sandwich, it has a ton of flavor and has to be eaten to understand just how good it is.

if i could give 0 stars i would , the managers were blatantly being discriminate towards me and a fellow friend . we had asked for a kids meal due to the portioning size & prior to this i have always been able to order this, i even had a picture to prove this because i was recently here with my aunts but this time i was greeted by manager who told me i could not , i asked what else could we get closer to that & she threw hands up and said she didn't know and walked away as we were still speaking . i asked to speak to the next manager in chain of command and presented her with facts of how i was just treated , she didn't apologize to me but instead argued with me about what i couldn't order , i asked could i order it to go and she clapped her hands at me very rudely , i asked her to please stop talking to me with her hands because she basically in my personal space & causing a scene , everyone at this point was staring at us , workers weren't even working anymore because we surrounded , she told us to leave and i asked why , she threatened to call the police on us , as we where walking out we asked for her name and a number to speak somebody higher , she told us no and went to the phone and fake dialed the police , a little girl behind the bar was recording us without our consent and workers were laughing and antagonizing us along with managers it's like it was a show for them.... as were walking to the car the 2 managers follow us and pull out their phones as if to record us again , my friend goes out and speaks to a waiter at the bar who gives us 2 names , Candace & Kelly , as my friend was leaving another woman who worked there came and put her finger in my friends face touching her nose , that's how close she was, im not sure if those names are truthful but my experience this time was horrible , i will most likely NEVER return here , if you want to be antagonized and clapped at , touched and disrespected then this is the...
