Port orange beware of the false positive reviews!!! The reviews are often repeated the same on google and yelp to keep this rating high this is a 0 star restaurant!
We were excited to try out a new restaurant. Our close friend tried it out last week and highly advised against it, but we decided to give it a go based on the “positive” google reviews.
Wrong. Choice.
We came in tonight 30 minutes prior to the dinner rush. Nobody else was in the restaurant. Our family has two little ones that go to bed early and dinner is usually around 4:30 for them. We were the first ones in, and the last ones to have our order taken.
The waitress apologized for being unable to make the drinks we asked for. No problem, we are a low maintenance family, and will drink tap water instead. But we never saw her again. Unacceptable.
Then the evening continued to worsen when all the families around us, of the same heritage as the owners, are being waited hand and foot while our family, never received food… Did our family feel comfortable at that point? Absolutely not. We were there for 1 hour and 20 mins not an entree in sight. Starving little ones is not what I’m about as a parent, and as an establishment you should be ashamed.
After the rest of the restaurant had their food my husband politely got the waitresses attention (since she never returned to our table willingly) and asked if “our food would be out shortly?” Her response was “I don’t know. The kitchen has a problem.” He asked “was our order even sent?” And she responded with “yes, but there’s a problem.” Yet never seemed to care enough to go check on the issue or how much longer it would be. We decided to go elsewhere and upon asking for the check for the measly chips and queso and drinks we received, she slammed the slip down on the table and ran off ignoring taking our card. So we left cash and peeled out as soon as we could.
We finally concluded the trip, and went to Jets pizza for our family dinner. Paying $60 for some chips, queso, and a couple of drinks. We do not recommend and will never return here.
A response to the owner: We did speak on Facebook. I was removing the portion about you having paid for reviews, Because we had spoke, you cleared that up, and are working on improving the issues. I Never made a new review. However, I witnessed Poppy (as listed below) leave before my family did. We were not the only family upset that night. Others walked out too. I do support small business, which is why this has been brought to...
Read moreIf you have not yet had a chance to experience Don Chente Mexican Kitchen and Tequila, you are in for a real treat. We have eaten there three times now and each time look forward to a return trip to try something different on the menu.. everything we've tried so far has been delicious! The food, service, and reasonable prices are definitely a plus. If you're looking for seafood you must try their Quesadilla De Mar..filled with Jumbo grilled shrimp, yes, I said Jumbo and they were jumbo and so delicious. Another favorite of mine after tonight is Quesabirria Chente, which is made with Mexican stewed beef. The flavors with the consome will certainly be calling you back! Hmmm, decisions, decisions! I can't wait to see what I'll be trying next. I could continue with sharing the delights my husband tried but I came home with a slice of their Tres Leches Cake and it is definitely calling me! Hope you get to give it a try. You surely won't be...
Read moreMet some friends for lunch and wanted to try a new place! This is there second day open!! One of the owners (they are brothers) greeted and sat us. Very friendly, took our drink orders and made our margaritas. Good sized! I told him to make mine whatever was his favorite so he used Mezcal instead of traditional tequila. Delicious! Ordered the lunch special (pick 2 combo) and had one chicken and one shredded beef enchilada. Chose a green and a red sauce. Chicken was shredded and tender, shredded beef was very good!! I would have liked a little more spice in the green sauce, but I like it a little hotter than most. Overall, it was very good. I enjoyed the rice (which I typically don’t), and while I prefer a chunkier bean, these were good (especially for dipping some chips in!) Reasonable prices, and very friendly. Both brothers came over and checked on us, and we never felt rushed....
