If you've seen my reviews before I specialize in mom and pop AUTHENTIC Mexican spots.
I've discovered another delightful Mexican food gem within this sleepy town.
EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING we ordered was a hit NOT one miss!
We started with mexican aguas - the tamarind, and jamaica were good and refreshing, bummed they were out of pineapple. We moved on with the guacamole which was freshly made and creamy with chunks of avocado. The chips were homemade and freshly fried as well. They brought some house made sauces a tomatillo based one and a red spicy sauce that was FANTASTIC especially for those chili heads.
The kids had chicken and al pastor tacos with the cilantro and onions and a side of rice and beans (the beans were soooooo good and the the rice was tasty)- they were devoured.
I had tostadas - they were cool about making me a vegetarian version - the tostada's tortilla was thin but definitely crisp and filling, I appreciated the thick avocado slices.
We also ordered the chilies torreados - fire roasted chilies they were sooo perfect.
My husband had the Birria tacos - they had just enough to make the tacos but not to serve the consume on side but we appreciated they threw in a free taco for the inconvenience. He also had the pozole (it was a big bowl and we all got a chance to try the soup it was delicious - this establishment served the side tortillas froed)
our friend ordered the lengua, chicken, barbacoa, al pastor and carnitas tacos with cilantro and onions and all of them were perfectly seasoned and flavorful.
This is definitely worth a stop if you love authentic Mexican food. I know it's now my go to spot...

So this is a small casual eats place, you come in and seat yourself. But then we had to get up and go grab our own menus. Server took our drink order, brings the drinks and takes food order. We ordered chips and queso, an order of fried beef tacos, an order of chicken flautas, a chicken taco, a beef taco, and a chicken nugget and fry plate for the baby.
The tea I ordered tasted off, but the server never returned to the table for me to switch it out
About twenty minutes later, the food comes out. This is the first the server has returned. I asked for a Pepsi instead. She brings the Pepsi and asks if we need anything else. I say "yes, the flautas and our chips and queso" so she brings the chips and queso and goes back to the counter to finish her lunch.
Ten minutes later, after having finished the rest of my meal, I had to go up to the counter and ask for my flautas. Which we're apparently never made. After I finally received the flautas, from a different server, and finished them (still haven't seen our server again), we had to go up to the counter to pay because we never received our bill either.
All the food we got was very good, minus the fries which were not that great. But the service makes me not want...
Read moreDisappointed, I really wanted to like this place. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly but the food was subpar to say the least. I also thought it was interesting they added a 15% service fee onto my bill when me and my three children ate in. I got the fish tacos which looked like they use fish sticks for the fish. The beans had no flavor and with the rice being the only real decent thing but it too just tasted like buttery oil. My one son got shrimp tacos that had a very strong fish smell and taste. He and I both left not feeling well and he got sick once. My daughter got the taco salad bowl without meat that she liked. My youngest got chicken nuggets and fries which he was supper excited.about until taking one bite out of the nuggets. I can't even really describe what they tasted like, it was like a combo of cardboard and old grease. Overall, just disappointed. The positives was the restaurant was clean and the staff friendly but that...
