Weihai House Chinese Food Take-out — Restaurant in Port Orchard

Im giving this place 3 stars for a few reasons.

I will say that the fried rice and egg rolls were very good. The amount of fried rice was almost excessive, but it was so good we aren't going to argue.

We also ordered sesame chicken and General Tso chicken. Both were very overcooked and on the crunchy end of crunchy. Not at all what I've always known both dishes to be. I'm not sure if they just overcooked it or re-cooked some older product.

I also put in my order at 4:30pm for a 6pm pickup. I showed up right at 6pm and it was not ready. The person who helped me seemed surprised when I showed up and stated that my order was not ready yet. I'm about 90% certain they didnt start my order because it took 10 minutes to come out.

Between them being late and the overcooked food, I was going to give a 2 star review, but since the rest of the food was good, I am giving 3 stars.

The food is delicious and the portions are generous (I fully expect to get four dinners out of one container), the employee who helped me was really nice, the online ordering experience is seamless, and I like their setup!

Okay, here's how it works: they only do takeout. You place your order (preferably online--I didn't have any luck with them picking up the phone, probably because they're shortstaffed right now), and when you go to pick it up (it's a walk-up, not a drive-up), there's a little window on the front of the store you can lift when you're getting your food. If the window isn't staffed when you walk up, don't worry--it'll just be a few minutes and then they'll be there. No need to call in or anything like that. It was really convenient.

TRIGGER WARNING

I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but I feel like I need to share my experience. I came in yesterday and picked up an order of Sweet & Sour Chicken, Orange Chicken, and plain Lo Mein. Everything tasted fine when I ate it, but later that night I woke up around 3 a.m. feeling really sick and ended up vomiting. From what I could tell, it looked like it was the sweet and sour sauce and parts of the meal coming back up.

This was the only thing I ate all day, so I’m pretty certain it came from here. I’m not trying to be rude or cause issues — just hoping this helps bring attention to a possible food safety issue. I’ve enjoyed food from here before, but this experience was rough and I hope it was just a...
