If you’re looking for fast food that goes way beyond the average, Checkers is the place to be. Every time I pull into a Checkers drive-thru, I already know I’m going to get bold flavors, hot food, and a satisfying experience that doesn’t break the bank.

Let’s start with the food—the real reason we all go. Their seasoned fries are legendary. Crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and piping hot every time. No matter what I order, I always make sure to get the largest size they offer. The burgers are juicy, loaded with flavor, and stacked right. Whether it’s the Big Buford or the Baconzilla, the patties are cooked well, the toppings are fresh, and the buns hold up without getting soggy. The chicken sandwiches are equally impressive—crispy, tender, and packed with just the right amount of spice and crunch.

Don’t even get me started on the desserts. Their milkshakes are some of the best you’ll find at a fast food joint—thick, creamy, and not overly sweet. The funnel cake fries and cinnamon apple pies are the perfect sweet treat to wrap up your meal. They’re not just an afterthought here—dessert at Checkers is worth it.

One thing I really appreciate is how affordable Checkers is without skimping on portion sizes or quality. You can feed the whole family without emptying your wallet. And they often run deals, value boxes, and mix-and-match options that make it even better.

The drive-thru service is quick and surprisingly friendly. The team always sounds upbeat and gets the order right—which isn’t always a given in fast food. Even when there’s a line, it moves fast, and the food comes out fresh. They’ve clearly got their system down.

Checkers locations are usually well-lit and easy to access, with enough space to pull in and out without feeling jammed up. Even late at night, it feels safe and convenient.

There’s just something old-school and comforting about Checkers. They stick to what they do best: bold flavors, hot food, big portions, low prices, and no-nonsense service. You’re not paying extra for bells and whistles—you’re paying for food that delivers on taste every time.

"Updated review"; after my review, I was contacted by Checkers Corporate immediately and asked to reach out to them which I did, I was then contacted within an hour of that conversation from the Store mgr. (Laura) from the Checkers Restaurant located on SW Gatlin Blvd in Port St Lucie, FL.

The restaurants manager apologized for the mishap and any inconvenience it may have caused me. She reassured me that is not acceptable and not the way she runs her restaurant, she showed me how they make the orders and I took notice to how clean and organized her restaurant was. She then proceeded to not only refunded me my money, but she also asked me if she could make me a couple cheeseburgers to hopefully get my business back.

That was very nice of her and the cheeseburgers were great. She went over and beyond to make it right and she did a good job. Thank you Laura.

I also contacted Checkers Corporate to let them know how satisfied I was and I spoke to Joseph who was also very nice and knowledgeable, I asked that they give a shout out to the Mgr. Laura and say Thank you for a job well done. She made me a satisfied customer. Much appreciated..

On this day, I was not impressed with my order, actually it was horrible! Food was barley warm? The milkshakes are those pre-made mix milk shakes, you know the ones made without actual real fresh ice cream?

My orig. order needed to immediately be returned due to one of my burgers not only being barley warm enough to take a bite, but i noticed what looked like white powder mold on the bottom bun, the other burger did not have that on it? I turned around and went right back, they told me is was not mold but baking powder found on rolls? It wasn't on the other one, or the two new burgers they made me to replace these two horrible burgers, but even the remade burgers were barley warm! And those replacement burgers should have been the very best they could've made? They were far from that! Worst experience and I will Not be returning to this franchise for...

This is 4 stars with a MAJOR caveat:

While the value and flavor of most Checker's menu items are second to none, it seems locations (both new and old) still have a challenge with processing Checker's Rewards items, placing pickup orders from the Checkers app that they can process when you arrive, and most anything that requires a barcode scanner.

Regrettably, the team at the Gatlin Blvd location in Port Saint Lucie, FL has a new female manager who majors in sarcasm and may have previously worked at Kinko's (circa 1998) based upon her complete LACK of customer service. My most recent visit in which a request for my Rewards "Free Fry" that did NOT validate on the app (as per usual), resulted in a series of sarcastic, shaming comments and an attitude reminiscent of a "Karen".

When I requested the reward be added to my existing mobile order, I got major attitude and lots of judgment immediately. I shared that since I am in tech, I know how to navigate the app correctly, so it is not a user error--as she quickly led with when I showed her the issue on my phone. She then proceeded to ask me if I "want EVERYTHING for free now", and shut the window with enough momentum to take it off its hinges while she reluctantly delivered my free fries--per the Reward credit. She proceeded to ask me if I wanted her "to run to Publix to put lemon in my ice water" that I requested.

I did not get her name and she conveniently did not wear a name tag, but while I did receive what I was entitled to, I have placed calls to the Corporate Office in Tampa regarding this experience. Shaming a customer over a Reward is not good business!

Although I love the food, the wait time can also be tedious and the frustration with the fact that most locations don't seem to be equipped with what they need to process discounts/Rewards/Coupons can definitely detract from the overall experience.
