We have been here numerous times before. The food is usually stellar, but today oof. We ordered 2 chicken wraps, and a kids corn dog. My wrap came infested with hair inside, along with Raw chicken breast that I didn't notice until I noticed the long string of hair. (Instantly lost my appetite.). My son's corn dog meal also had a beard like hair in his bowl that held his broccoli. We also had an order of the garlic fries which typically comes with just garlic cheese topped on, not actual minced garlic drenched all over the fries to make them not edible. Barley touched them.
We brought all this to our waitress attention, she held herself well, I am also in the food industry and understand its hard out there getting people to cook and actually care about what they are putting out. The manager comped most of our food, but still mind blowing to me our bill would have came out close to 60 bucks with an app, 2 adult wraps and a kids meal. Presentation today horrible along with the extra hair we didn't order. I also had a clear shot of the kitchen. 2 lady's working the line not wearing hair nets, and one guy had a hat on his head but all of his hair in his face still. So at that point what's the point in wearing a hat at all.
So hopefully I won't get salmonella today, but only time will tell. 2 stars still due to our bill being mainly comped, but more I thought about it after I left, it's no excuse to serve raw food with a side of hair. I'm reading other reviews and it seems like recently this has been a common theme...well let them work out the kinks before returning to this location. Again great service, manager handled herself well, just absolutely disgusted that hair was in 2 out of 3...
Read moreRed Robin delivers a consistently enjoyable dinner experience. The bar is stocked with a good variety of appealing cocktails and a respectable draft list. The sides are bottomless, along with several non-alcoholic drinks which certainly appeals to the Dutchman in me. The sides are also all pretty universally good - not gourmet, but certainly satisfying.
As for main dishes, the main draws are sandwiches - burgers (obviously beef but also turkey, veggie, or Impossible), chicken sandwiches, or even a salmon filet sandwich that is new (to me, at least). The customization is impressive, and you can tailor your bun, meat, and toppings to your liking. It also allows a calorie-minded eater a great deal of control. I always enjoy my burgers there, but my one gripe is that I wish the patties were thicker. They seem to be all about the fun topping combinations, which is great, but I think there isn't enough meat to stand up against all that other flavor.
The reason I even bothered to write this review is the topic I saved for last: service. They consistently knock it out of the park here. It's remarkable for any restaurant, let alone a mass-appeal chain on Westnedge. Given all of your dining options in the area, the service helps RR stand out as a perennial go-to for my family. That, bc and the relaxed atmosphere that is forgiving of little kids' shenanigans.
I'm a big fan,...
Read moreMediocre and disappointing. I had never been to a Red Robin before, but they are known for their gourmet burgers and I assumed they must be pretty darn good. I ordered a classic Red Robin burger with bacon and a fried egg. I was asked whether I wanted my burger "pink" or "no pink" and replied that I wanted mine "pink" or as close to medium as possible. I ordered a salad as my side. The burger came out overcooked and was otherwise average. Enjoyable enough, but certainly not worth $12, especially when other spots like Five Guys and Nonla Burger do it better for a lot less. The salad was school cafeteria quality with iceberg lettuce, a couple diced tomatoes and cucumbers and some shredded cheddar cheese on top. Below average and borderline gross. The one redeeming factor was the service which was great. Both the host and the server were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was sort of cliche Americana diner type stuff. Overall, I wanted to like this place, but it's very overpriced for the quality of food that you get. If you're looking for a quality burger in Kalamazoo, there are much better options and...
