J's Drive-in — Restaurant in Porterville

It's a shame, but I can't find any burger place with decent food, reasonable prices, and customer service. Second visit here. First time was OK all around. This time, SO disappointing! The girl, yes girl, at the counter had to be convinced to tell me the price between a combo and a la carte. I ordered and paid. Got my teeny drink cup. One machine was not working. I went to the counter to seek help. Girl ignored me. I finally rudely barged into a conversation and asked about the drink machine. She went over to it and turned a key which apparently turns it on. No apology, no acknowledgement, nothing. When my order was ready, I saw immediately the onion rings were WAY overcooked. I pointed this out and had them make them again. Ordered the chicken strip basket, didn’t get a ranch, and the fries are cold and hard. Chicken was good though. My husband got the #4 plain and the bacon was so burnt. Both our drinks were super flat, they literally tasted like syrup water. The girls didn’t know if they had given me my drinks yet and gave me my food and said have a good one but I didn’t have my drinks. The wait time was so long, but it’s to be expected. I’m usually very happy with the food here but today was just overall bad

I recently visited this place and was thoroughly impressed. The mozzarella sticks were a letdown—they were bland and lacked any melted cheese, with an odd taste. However, the French fries were a standout. They were crispy and flavorful, and the chili cheese fries were equally amazing—melted and bursting with delicious flavors.

I opted for the #3 super bacon dish, which was juicy, well-seasoned, and cheesy. The avocado shake was a surprise—it was incredibly delicious and creamy, almost indistinguishable from a pistachio shake.
