Bentoz Teriyaki — Restaurant in Portland

Very rude on phone. Owner asked bf to bring dog in because she wants to meet him. Then he brings the dog in and tells him to get dog out. Make up your mind. No longer coming here.

I purchased the sweet and sour chicken. The sauce came on side which was nice, however, it was anything but a sauce. It was more like a piece of jello. Weird and inedible.

I’m really getting tired of restaurant owners with poor attitudes. I’m a restaurant manager myself. You should be embarrassed.

*This is in response to the owners last comment. Your response was poorly handled. You were EXTREMELY defensive about a situation that was never explained. Had you actually explained the second time the dog was brought in that you weren’t interested in him being back, then communicate that. We would have happily complied. Also, how would a customer that came in BEFORE us prematurely complain about him? He physically wouldn’t have been present in that case. My friend returned home with the food very distraught about someone he once respected said so rudely to him that he needed to leave with the dog.

Additionally, the fact you never publicly addressed the issue with the food review that was included with this shows where your priorities are with your business. Proving the customer wrong is not it. Also, I recommend checking out their most recent health inspection report. Holding food at the wrong temperature is a major no-no! If you've been apart of food establishments in Oregon You should know this :)

There isn’t many place that can do « No sauce » chicken teriyaki with flavor. This is the spot. I do have pre-diabetes so I cannot do the sauce. They always make fresh food and give consistent quality. I personally love their spicy seafood Udong because the soup tastes like one of korean dish which is called « jjambbong ». Their sweet and sour chicken was super good and it was flavorful. Chicken was crispy and wasn’t soggy at all! Sometimes, fried food could be soggy because of the sauce and personally I love how they serve sauce on the side. Owner is always friendly and fast service. Cannot wait to try more...

Everything about Bentoz is straightforward. The menu is no frills, the food is exactly as the menu describes it and the brick in mortar is just a spot to have a quick solid bite of food, not really an ambiance joint. I give it 4-stars because the flavoring is more dynamic than a typical bento joint and they give you fairly large servings of meat. I always order a side of steam veggies because most of the menu items don't include them and I typically get two meals out of it. You really can't beat the...
