I hate writing this review because this was my go-to sushi place. This is only about COVID protocols that I feel like people should be aware of, it has nothing to do with the quality of the food. I placed and order for pick up and went to go pick it up myself in person. The order was not ready when I arrived and as I waited I saw that the person who was making the sushi orders was not wearing a mask. I watched him for a good 15-20 minutes prepare multiple orders without wearing a mask, breathing directly on the food. When we told them that we did not want the food, they kindly refunded us our money and took back our order. But also claimed “he was on a break drinking water”, which was definitely not the case, he was clearly working and preparing food which cannot be reheated to attempt to kill any pathogens. I will not be returning here until COVID is over and I thought people should be aware that they are not following mask mandates while...
Read moreI hate to give a bad review on any person livelihood but I think it can be learning experience. I don't don't always have the scratch for sushi but when I do it is a bummer when it is sub-par.
I got just sushi. Spicy tuna roll, Philadelphia roll, and a premium fried spider crab roll I no longer remember the name of. It was topped with fried onions, costs 16-something alone.
The biggest issue I had was the dry rice falling apart. A good roll at these prices should just about bounce off the plate with a drop because it's perfectly sticky and tender. As far as I could tell the ingredients were fresh but I honestly couldn't taste the spider crab roll over the sweet burn onion flavor... almost a sweet gristly taste that wasn't good.
The place is inside is otherwise nice, small, clean, and looks good. Now for me I'm not going back but I can't say you shouldn't go, it might have...
Read moreMy wife and I were driving around and we were getting hungry. Sushi sounded good to us and we ran across the Bluefin Sushi Bar on Broadway. Never been before.
Kind of a funky little hole in the wall place with maybe 8 to 12 tables. The interior looked about 15 years old or so. We shared 2 different rolls (Tempura Crunch Roll & Philadelphia) then I ordered the Red Dragon Roll as well. It took a little while to get the food even though their was only 2 other couples there. We really enjoyed the sushi, it was a nice change from our regular sushi hangouts. Their prices were comparable to other sushi places.
We're thinking of trying the one in Happy Valley sometime and seeing how it compares...
