Don Pedro Mexican Food #8 — Restaurant in Portland

I drive almost 10 minutes further than the Don Pedro closest to my house for the superior quality of this location. My favorites are the steak fajita burrito & their ridiculously hits-the-spot breakfast burrito in which they use potato hash instead of potato wedges, which I prefer for their evenly fried flavor & moisture. If you've never had a steak fajita burrito it does a very similar thing for me to a steak & cheese (request cheese). Bell peppers & onion fried until just a bit sweet. So tasty! They employ a good little group of sweet, hard workers. It doesn't hurt that the ownership is one of the most deserving people I've seen manage the back of house of any restaurant. He's smart & sincere & driven. Try it! Even if you've tried another location I think you'll find this one stands out. Nachos, rarely have had nachos that I just thought were bad. Hate to waste food but I couldn't eat more than half...as many have said, no flavor!! Also, lacking... barely any meat, the cheese, was out of a can, no flavor beans, meat and salsa and the chips...oh, gosh, even bladder and not that fresh. It was like someone took all the spice, live and passion out of the Mexican food. The most appealing item on my nachos were the canned jalapeños. Please, I think some passion has been lost at this restaurant. Time to regroup and work on the consistency. Extremely delicious authentic Mexican food. It's definitely not like taco bell. The prices are very reasonable. Their carne asada tacos are absolutely amazing. The meat is trimmed well so there is not much fat. The chicken is extremely good and flavorful and well trimmed also. I've eaten at some places where half of the portion is fat. This place is very meaty very well seasoned everything was extremely fresh and delicious. I got a taco for plate(4 tacos for$8.99) and it was more than I could eat. They're wet burrito is amazing. I don't think I've ever gotten any food there I didn't like and I've been eating there for a few years now. It's probably cheaper to go to Don Pedro's then Taco Bell.
