We arrived under sunlit skies, the kind that glint off windshields and pastry cases alike. The door to Farina Bakery swung open with the gentle creak of good omen, ushering us into a sugar-saturated sanctuary. The walls bloomed with cartoon flora and towering dessert totems, as though Lisa Frank had curated a dreamscape for quiet revolutions.
We ordered like pilgrims: A gluten-free lavender cookie, its fissures like tectonic plates of subtle joy. A cream puff, powdered into submission, piped with defiant lightness. Coffee, of course. Dark, warm, and anchoring. The kind that says, āYou may now begin remembering.ā
The cookie was not just a cookie. It was resistance baked into a circleāfragile, floral, and absolutely unrepentant about being gentle. The cream puff? A small act of structural genius, its top hat barely clinging to its whipped convictions. It required both hands and a sense of ceremony.
Around us, the room glowed. Not metaphoricallyāliterally. Light spilled through tall windows, bouncing off antique plates and unspoken memories. A family talked softly near the macaron case. The mural smiled. The sugar settled like a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt get to come here often due to the drive and location but always feel like a kid in a pastry store when I do. I originally found Farina when moving to Portland and looking for Macaroons. While their Macaroons are heavenly (and keep me coming back for more despite the 30-45 minute drive) - they have a great assortment of other pastries and goodies too!
Price wise they are a little spendier but Iām okay paying it to not only support the good work that the employees of the bakery (and in some cases their artistry of what they make like wedding cakes) but also the taste/quality. Taste is huge!
They do have in location shopping available as well as work with companies like door dash and grub hub if you want to have your driver pick something up.
Due to the nature of this business their mornings are typically the busiest and sometimes run out of key items before 11-12noon. So if you have your heart set on something order ahead or go in early.
I also love that they change their seasonal macaroon offerings and keep that section lively.
Great job Farina and thank...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: Downgrading my 5 star review to 4. I understand that the too good to go bags are surprise bags so it's a get what you get sort of deal but they have greatly reduced the amount of food you get with the bags. This has nothing to do with the contents but rather the reduction in quantity for the same price. Typically a bag would come with 4 items. Sometimes they are the same and that's completely fine but this time each bag came with only 2 items which is not worth it to me. Especially since I have to go out of my way to go here.
Previous review I have been buying their chickpea hand pie and marionberry pop tart at my local coffee shop for quite some time. Decided to go to their bakery and grab some more items. Not a single one of them disappointed. Everything is flavorful and perfectly baked. I particularly enjoyed the everything bagel galette, macarons, and pesto pop tart. I also love that they participate in reducing food waste by selling their goods discounted on the...
