I recently brought my students to Experiment PDX for a school field trip and had one of the most engaged and positive experiences since I've been organizing trips for our school. They were able to accommodate our wide range of student ages by helping kids participate in a lego robotics activity that was interesting and challenging for everyone involved. Before we began the instructed portion of our visit, students kept busy looking at the many different activities and displays available, which likely would have kept them entertained for far longer than the hour they were given. We then sectioned off our group while early elementary students were separated from our older students to participate in lego robotics. The instructors were excellent in their communication with our students and gave clear and engaging directions during our activity. In the days following I received many messages from parents raving about how much their students enjoyed our visit and asking to go back again soon. I highly recommend to anyone in need of an educational and fun activity for their family or for a...
Read moreVery interesting place with a lot going on. My family and I walked in while we were waiting for a table to eat next door. We learned about her space and mentioned we were just looking, not interested in using anything she had to offer. However, before leaving, she offered to show us a beetle and grasshopper (?) she had, so we said ok sure. We looked at the insects, said wow a few times, my toddler saw them, and that’s that. It took about 3 minutes. As we tried to leave, she asked how we would pay. I was unprepared for this as I had pretty clearly mentioned we were just there to look. Apparently seeing a beetle close up costs $20 here. I am very supportive of small businesses and especially a business like this, but I was so put off from our interaction that I would recommend to anyone who asks,...
Read moreI’ve taken my family to the Little Lab science class twice now and my girls absolutely loved it. The teacher, Amber, knows how to connect with kids and really makes learning fun.
The open play space is a random menagerie of activities which the kids enjoy exploring.
They have a marble run section, which I was excited to play with, but it was a GraviTrax style which is more complicated than the typical runs I’m used to and my girls are a bit too young for it so I wasn’t able to play 😢.
They were hosting a birthday party one week I was there and it looked like a lot of fun.
Overall it’s a great way to spend the day with kids and would be a fun space to...
