As someone practicing an Ayurvedic-vegan & gluten-free lifestyle, finding restaurants that truly understand food as medicine is profoundly meaningful. Maruti has created a space where ancient wisdom meets contemporary dietary awareness with genuine reverence and skill.
Their commitment to honoring Ayurvedic principles while accommodating diverse dietary needs reflects a deep understanding that nourishment is both individual and universal. Each dish demonstrates thoughtful consideration of the six tastes, seasonal appropriateness, and the energetic qualities of ingredients—principles that are often lost in modern dining but are clearly alive in their kitchen.
What moves me most is their authentic embrace of "all walks of diets and living styles." This isn't just accommodation, for it's recognition that conscious eating takes many forms, and everyone deserves access to food prepared with intention and care. Their fresh approach to traditional Ayurvedic cuisine makes these healing foods accessible to a broader community while maintaining their sacred essence.
The flavors are exceptional, but beyond taste is the palpable sense that this food has been prepared with consciousness and love. As someone who counsels others on the connection between food and well-Being, I deeply appreciate finding a restaurant that embodies these principles so beautifully.
Maruti's food is an example of conscious dining, honoring tradition while serving the evolving needs of our community with wisdom and inclusivity.

Read moreUpdate: September 2024. I recently tried the Mushroom Karahi, and unfortunately, it was quite a letdown. While it was certainly spicy, it lacked any real depth of flavor. It seemed like heat for the sake of heat, without the rich, balanced spices you'd expect in a dish like this.
To make matters worse, the prices have increased significantly over the last year. The restaurant seems to be aiming for a more premium experience, but the quality of the food just doesn’t match the cost. For what you're paying, you’d expect a lot more in terms of taste and presentation.
On top of that, they’ve made a 20% gratuity mandatory, which feels excessive given the lackluster quality of the meal. It's frustrating to pay extra for a dining experience that doesn't meet expectations, and it leaves little room for diners to tip based on actual service.
old Review:
I have been there more than 10 times in the last 2 years in Portland but their tikka masala is not my favorite. The only reason to go there is for Baigan Bharta , cheese naan and Raw Chai cheese cake. The biryani is also decent I would give it 7/10. But the staff is amazing, warm...
Read moreMy new husband and I had our wedding catered through Maruti and it was fabulous! The catering tasting was above expectations and Rudra went out of his way to ensure he had dishes available made without garlic even though it is a main flavoring in Indian cuisine (I am sensitive). Rudra was very communicative and did a virtual walk through of the event space with my husband before the event to ensure everything we ordered would work out. On the day of the wedding Rudra and his team were prompt with arrival and set up and provided the chafing tray holders so we could keep the food hot during the ceremony. He also provided very clear labels for each tray of food that indicated the dish name and a rough translation to the English equivalent (ex. Chana Masala = Chickpeas in Spiced Tomato Sauce) It also conveyed dietary restrictions. Our guests repeatedly asked us where we catered the meal from and if they could go and try it again locally. Thankfully, they can! Thank you so much for ensuring our wedding catering was super delicious! We highly recommend you...
