Me and my friend just turned 21 recently, my friends been to the bar multiple times and has never seen the bartender who mistreated us before , after we orders two drinks and gave him. 2$ tip he told us we were cut off and then told us he has the right to refuse service & telling us that it’s customary to tip , I respectfully whole time I spoke to him I wasn’t disrespecting him or cussing at him I said I feel like this situation could’ve gotten handled differently if you told us about a tip being customary he just continued to being rude and speaking to us in harsh tone, like is this what you call customer service ? Where was the sign that says it’s “customary to tip” and originally we weren’t even done ordering for the night so how did you know you weren’t about to receive another tip ? And how come he wasn’t saying this to everyone else in the bar ? Why wasn’t he cutting anyone else off ? You really think everyone in that bar ripped him 2$ every drink ? And the dude didn’t even have enough respect to let us talk to the manager we called on the phone and he told us “I’m not gonna pass you the phone” then he Pretended to act like he was the manager. And it took so long to get our food we wanted to leave at this point and my friend asked for a refund, he didn’t even give her the full refund how is this okay ? And we never once got disrespectful, we didn’t scream at him , he was just...
Read moreI've been ordering from Happy Fortune for years. Close to 20, if I'm remembering right. The food has never been top of the line, but I never expected it to be. For an inexpensive "greasy spoon" type place, it has almost always been pretty good. The one time I complained, they made it right. Last night I placed an order through Uber Eats. One of the dishes I ordered was sweet and sour shrimp, which is a favorite, so I've had it many times. I don't know what went wrong, but it seemed overcooked or stale. I'm such a big fan of Chinese food that I'll eat it even when it's not very good, but it wasn't possible with this. The outside was hard and the shrimp was dried out and rubbery. I was really bummed, but I figured the cook was probably having an off night. S@%# happens. We're all human, after all. I just wanted a refund, because I shouldn't have to pay $15 (ish?) for food I couldn't eat. But, the response I got from Uber Eats stated they were sorry and would notify the restaurant, but they wouldn't refund the money. Since that is the second time they've done that, I will stick with GrubHub, Caviar, Door Dash, and Postmates from now on. Hopefully Happy Fortune will, too, since experiences like this make them...
Read moreThis is the lousiest Chinese food in the city, and tied for worst in Portland Metro. "American Chinese" doesn't even help -- it's just horrible.
Garlic chicken was pasty & near flavorless, with sad, wilted/soggy vegetables. And cucumbers! Lots of mushy tasteless cucumbers. The dish was edible, but just barely.
Was hoping for better with Singapore-style noodles, but literally no joy. Also very pasty consistency, with bad-flavored bbq pork being the only real taste (no curry detectable). And lots of the same mushy tasteless cucumbers. Plus, scrambled egg just thrown on top, which in our case was handy because we ordered NO EGG so it was easy to remove. Neither of us could handle more than a few bites before tossing the rest out.
The little box of white rice was unobjectionable and therefore the high point of the meal.
I can't possibly imagine how they stay in business when there is SO MUCH Chinese food, from adequate to exquisite in our city. This place just sucked, and I am otherwise...
