The woman working there was very nice and I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. The side salad is delicious and sweet. Unfortunately everything hot tastes like it’s been frozen for a long time before being cooked. The texture is really hard to get past. The portions leave a lot to be desired as well. I don’t thinks I’ll be returning but if you do go I suggest you try the side salad.

This is the best, and one of the cheapest, teriyaki chicken places we've found. The biggest downside is they aren't open weekends, but that's understandable since they're surrounded by major businesses that are also closed weekends. Anytime I get a weekday off, we're trying to find an excuse to bring the family here.

Simple layout. Bed of rice w/ chopped grilled chicken. At least I think it’s chicken. Could of been more generous w/ the sauce. Salad basically lettuce. There was no WOW! factor, but it was edible.

On Friday March 21st 2025 we made a stop at this establishment on our way to Ridgefield WA from McMinnville OR. We had eaten here once years ago. We wanted to come back as the first time around things were yummy. But unfortunately we were told we couldn’t use the bathroom after asking. Even for paying customers. I asked woman even for paying customers and she said are you all together. We were a family of 5. I told her yes and we bought food to share. She said still it didn’t matter and was refusing to let us use her bathrooms. She did apologize after being extremely rude but making us feel unsafe and uncomfortable. We were starving so we still ordered. That was a huge mistake. They have many cameras in this establishment and there was no need for the owner to be extremely rude and disrespectful stating she was sorry that other people in the area were very bad. We had children with us and an older woman- grandma with us. We aren’t bad. There was no need to treat us in such a way. After looking through to all the other reviews I’ll say this. The owners are very good at skimping on food quality and portions. The chicken teriyaki as others have shared was not fresh but rather reheated. And really little portion of chicken with a large amount of rice. The owners have given feed back on their reviews here and tried to make people pitty them talking about “we’re all going through hard times” and “the business is barley making it” but proceed to rip people off and treat people like they’re a burden when patronizing their business. Anyway long story short the teriyaki was horrible rubbery chicken with a small portion. The side of noodles was soaked in grease and mushy and the fries were probably quickly heated in the deep fryer that wasn’t hot enough because they were also mushy and dripping oil. This place is a hazard and they need to be looked into. They definitely served us in this manner to be spiteful even after apologizing. As many reviews suggest do not patronize this establishment. It’s not worth your time or money. * owner don’t even bother trying to explain anything! You have cameras and we walked in ready to order and were met with your horrible attitude and lack of customer service. There is nothing we did wrong and...

I have worked in Swan Island for over 10 years. Hot Rice has been a go to of mine for lunch every month of every year that I have been here. The new owners have done an amazing job revamping the business and are consistent with the product they put out. I have never been disappointed by their portion size or the quality of their food. It has always been exactly what I expected. I have recommended this restaurant to our drivers over all the years as well. I haven't heard anything negative yet.

The top favorites that I would recommend based on word of mouth would be the Hot and Spicy One, the Beef and/or Shrimp One and of course I love their chicken. It is always top quality and a good amount. I also appreciate that they do not put a lot of sauce all over the chicken, sometimes my stomach can't handle so much sauce and it allows me to control that, also sometimes I like more spice then teriyaki, so i like instead they have the sauce in jars you can add to your plate while you are there or take to go in little containers, along with the soy sauce, etc...They have it all, just ask!!

I have eaten here daily some months, and then went only a couple times a month, but I always come to Hot Rice, because I know that I won't be disappointed.

I appreciate this business and the hard working people that have dedicated themselves to our little part of the world we call...

I go here minimum 2x per week for lunch when I'm at work. the man that owns it is awesome he will memorize your name after one time there. he will remember your order too and there is a guy in back that will sing if stay and eat you will get to experience that. I definitely recommend hot rice their spicy chicken teriyaki is to die for. the wait is never to long either, so if you only have a half hour it still works. the dining area is small but never full. they have tv's to watch for if you eat alone. even though you pay up front they bring it out to you. don't go anywhere else in swan island for food, they aren't as good. this place will always be good and the prices are right. I'm trying to write over two hundred characters so that Google will give me some prize money. this seems kind of ridiculous to keep going on and on about a place. but whatever, twenty bucks is twenty bucks, right? thanks for reading this. it means a lot to me. this is the end, the last eleven words. thank...
