Hour Glass Pub & Eatery — Restaurant in Portland

The food is well above what you would expect for a bar. We go there often for a drink, but rarely get a meal because we are pescatarian (love the appetizers though!). Today, we were thrilled because we asked the chef gal if she would make us a fish sandwich and she went out of her way to make us happy, even coming out several times to clarify what we wanted. It was an amazing sandwich and we hope they’ll add it to the menu! Also, our friend asked for fry sauce and the chef went back and whipped some up for her. Great addition to that neighborhood! I live a scant 40 blocks east and we're a wasteland compared to our friends near the Hour Glass. They did a great job fixing the place up, it looks really great inside! Please for the love of all that's holy start hiring people tho! You've got the hardest working barkeep on the east side in there. He's the bartender, waiter, bus boy, and after 10 on a Friday night he's also the cook! Come on help this guy out he is super friendly, eager to please, and can pour a mean drink. Four stars only because it feels like they're still finding their legs. I didn't care for the bartender (older sht dude might be lgbtq from an lgbtq customer). He can't multitask & and seems to be burned out with the bartender career. There are no tips for that service, buddy. You seemed irritated with me every time I asked you something. The chicken didn't taste the same at all & the breast looked smaller than before, a horrible burger (from a previous stop in), the chicken sandwich no thank you either as I watched that cook walk it by me to another customer.
