I just went to Lardo 2 days in a row with my husband. We got 4 different sandwiches and still there remain a couple more sandwiches on the current menu we'd love to try. We had the Korean Pork Shoulder and BEERia Grilled Cheese the first day, with delicious Caldera Root Beer (which is not that easy to find if you love root beer you know). We split both and absolutely loved both but especially the Korean Pork Shoulder with Kimchi, it was perfection. Then the second day, I have been craving Falafel and Lardo's Falafel Smash Burger with green zhoug was just on my mind, but unfortunately they were sold out of that so I had to make up my mind choosing between too many options - 3 at least strong contenders, but settled on the Smokey Cubano while my husband knew all along he wanted a favorite of his, the Bronx Bomber, which he has had before and found absolutely perfectly done. We got the Dirty Fries which are a meal unto themself - seriously - and we got Beers because the Lardo beer selection is deep and they had just tons of IPA's to choose from - and they were excellent from breweries we love. It was a lot of food! Everything at Lardo is so well done and the beers were absolutely delious. Lardo's menu changes frequently enough with another monthly chef sandwich special changing every month, that's a lot and it is all delicious...and still I can't wait for some of the items to return when it is their season to be back on the menu. The patio is great, inside is cozy on a winter day. It's super local and they are really kind people. They have a great happy hour and a lot of delicious sounding drinks including non alcoholic, if beer and root beer...
Read moreI don’t usually review restaurants — this is actually my first time. But I wanted to share how terrible my experience here was. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, which I saw on the reviews and was really excited for. First of all, they took half an hour to make the sandwich, which surprised me since it wasn’t even busy — i saw them process only about 5-10 orders while I waited, which is abysmal for a 30 minute period of time.
I ate there, so even though it was covid, I expected the sandwich to be fresh and hot. Unfortunately, this didn’t seem to be the case.
Once I got the sandwich, I discovered that the chicken wasn’t crispy, and was strangely sweet without being spicy. It was bone dry, overcooked to death, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find out later that they fry their chicken the night before and microwave it for customers, because that’s what the texture was like.
Once I had almost finished the sandwich, I discovered something. It comes with a white sauce and bacon! Sadly, it seems that they only bother to give you a tiny bit of each, and only on one side? given the quality of the chicken, the bacon and white sauce were the highlight of the sandwich, and so I was very sad that only about two bites of the sandwich were any good at all.
This place is abysmal, and I think I prefer McDonald’s over this sandwich. One of the only times I have ever regretted tipping, and legitimately one of the worst restaurants I...
Read moreThis is a review on Lardo's management and customer service(which was phenomenal), not on the food (which we never tasted). My wife and I went to the Lardo on Washington before it shut down and ordered 2 Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwiches. After we paid, the cook came out and informed the cashier that they were out of the chicken sandwiches. As we had our hopes set on that particular menu item, we decided to simply get refunded and pursue our dinner elsewhere. The cashier was easy going and said he could take care of the refund no problem, and that it would just go back onto my card. There must have been some sort of miscommunication, as the refund that went back on my card was $13 dollars short. I didn't discover the error until a month later. I call Lardo and a manager named Bailey answered my call. Bailey informed me that the Washington location had since permanently closed but that she would track down the owner and make sure I was refunded the $13. I had no idea it would be this kind of hassle, but Bailey was super patient, kind, and not at all put off by this quest for a measly $13 refund. She called me back several days later and gave me the refund. Customer service like this is a rarity these days. Even if their food sucked (which I doubt it does because it looks delicious), it is worth supporting this business merely out...
